Hi All,
I just sent off my application for Accelerated Nursing program at Concordia College for the fall of 2013. I'm really excited and nervous. I saw the thread for the fall 2012 was quite active and a few would-be 2013 students had posted to that one so I thought I should start a new one.
Anyway, I would LOVE to hear from any posters on the 2012 thread about how their experience has been going, anyone who is finished with the program, and anyone who is applying like me!
Thanks!!
Hey guys! I've been reading this post since I've applied and decided to join in. I recently got accepted for the fall 2013 cohort. Anyone in the area or in the program now is the dorming houses good or should I look for an apartment nearby? Also, what neighborhoods are good and affordable to live in? I am from Long Island
Hi tonimariep,
Congrats.
Concerning the living situation that depends. Will you have a car? You can look in many parts of Westchester and even take a peek in the Bronx. If you do not have a car I would not advise living to far just because you are not familiar with public transportation in Westchester. Bronxville would be best however that is a very expensive neighborhood. I have seen rentals go there for around $2100 a month .However Mount Vernon, Yonkers, White Plains, and New Rochelle are nice ( some of these have caveats attached such as where in the city you are living ) and have decent rental prices.
Thanks AccelBSN12 :) I look forward to meeting everyone. What is everyone planning on doing about work? My thoughts are to drop to per diem and work maybe 2 shifts per week. I'm anticipating spending a lot of time studying and know it won't leave many free hours. I am nervous though because my bills and living expenses aren't going anywhere.
@FutureCPN- They highly suggest not working but I am having the same problem...how am I going to pay for my car to get to class?!
I can't take out any private loans...
What can of work do you do that you can reduce your hours? Is it something in the hospitality business? I am thinking I may have to pick up some waitressing or bartending. let me know! thanks.
