Concordia College - NY -2013

U.S.A. New York

Hi All,

I just sent off my application for Accelerated Nursing program at Concordia College for the fall of 2013. I'm really excited and nervous. I saw the thread for the fall 2012 was quite active and a few would-be 2013 students had posted to that one so I thought I should start a new one.

Anyway, I would LOVE to hear from any posters on the 2012 thread about how their experience has been going, anyone who is finished with the program, and anyone who is applying like me!

Thanks!!

I still find myself stalking the mailbox for a response! I really hope I get in, and congrats to those that have gotten in! When I spoke to ***** last week, I was told that admission decisions would be sent out on that Friday, but now I'm hearing it's this week. This waiting game is so hard! :nailbiting:

Does anyone know what the estimated cost of attending this program is?

I wish it were "just school" I was concerned about. I have rent and every other bill you can possibly think of which are not going to disappear during the 16 months. I really thought I would get more in federal aid. It's just way too much to take out in private loans. Then attempt to take out private loans for living expenses etc. Thanks for the support everyone and good luck!

Based on what you said I guess you will not be attending in the Fall. I am sorry. Maybe you should think about attending programs that are Master's Level Entry Programs. I do not know your family situation but it is an option. I considered applying to program like that. Then the financial aid is different because it is a Masters degree not second bachelors.

I hope you will find the best route for you valentino :)

:\ It is too bad the government does not offer more options for subsidized loans for second degree students, especially those switching to higher-demand fields...

*** Everyone accepted, file your FAFSA. I'm not sure if this info is correct, because it seems a bit soon, but when I put in Concordia college a note came up in red saying "this school has a deadline of 5 days to file". just a heads up. again, not sure if thats correct, but thats the message I saw. I know people are still waiting to get letters, so not sure if that makes sense!

Has anyone else heard anything? Still an empty mailbox here...

Me too. It's been brutal to wait so long (applied in November!). I emailed the Dean yesterday who was sweet as always but unable to give any information. I'm not sure why.

Hi everyone:) I also applied to the fall 2013 program and decided to join the thread. I interviewed in March and still haven't heard anything yet. I emailed admissions to see if they would have a decision soon and am waiting on a response. I'm taking the microbiology prerequisite over the summer and hope that won't hurt my chances of gettng into the program

So I emailed the admissions counselor last night and heard back from him today. Apparently I am on an "unofficial wait list." He says I haven't been denied but because of the class size restriction, they've had to put me on that list. He said they will send out formal letters next week. I'm guessing that if you haven't heard anything yet, you're either on the wait list or will be rejected... Totally bummed out. :(

To all the already accepted students - congrats!

Can you please let us know on this thread by what date do you need to inform Concordia of your decision? That way those on the wait list can have a better time frame. Thank you so much!!

According to my letter I had 30 days from the date the letter was dated to send in my deposit. My letter was dated for April 5. I just sent in the deposit yesterday. FYI, the deposit is $500.

I know you set up this thread RachWabb. I also know how it feels to be waiting for news and just wanting to go on to the next step in life. I hope a space opens up for you.
