Congratulations Ari! You must be so excited. I have an interview with NYP-Cornell in 2 weeks. I just had a quick question. I'm going to my first interview- do they give you the pharmacology exam there or do they give you a study guide and then you take it later? Also, how long did it take you during the interview process? Thanks so much in advance! And I hope you're loving the new floor!

    Hi!

    THANKS!

You are given a practice pharm exam once you receive your official job offer letter. You are not officially hired pending pre-employment requirements which include pharm exam, drug test, medical history, etc. Interview process took too long.... Sent resume in July, didn't get the official job offer till the end of December.

    GOOD LUCK! Keep me updated!

Congratulations!! I was wondering if you could give more details about the NLN pharm exam? How did you prepare? Did you take the practice test? If so, was that helpful. Sorry for all the questions but I am very curious as I am looking to apply there soon. Thank you!

    THANKS!

I purchased the text they recommended (Pharmacology 2nd edition Reviews & Rationales by Prentice Hall) found at your nearest bookstore. I did take the practice test provided by the hospital. It gave me an idea of how the exam is formatted. Yes, it was extremely helpful. There are so many drugs to memorize however, all you need to do is bunch the meds into categories and memorize them as so. Know administration considerations, side effects, adverse effects, nursing considerations and client education.

    Good luck!

Hey again Ari! Sorry to keep bothering you. I was just wondering about how long it took you to hear back from HR or the Nurse manager after your interview? Hope all is going well in the new job!

    Ari RN,

How similar is the "actual exam" compared to the "$10 exam you pay for from NLN?

Would you say it is exactly the same as the $10 exam?

Also, how similar is it to the sample test NYP gives you?

Thanks. Please reply soon. Thanks again!
