Nursing Students NCLEX

Phew! Just finished taking NCLEX RN. Finished at 170 something questions. When the computer stopprd I was in shock. Walked to my car, still in shock. I had no idea how I did through out the test. Usually people say they can tell when they're doing bad etc, but I felt like my questions stayed the same difficulty level throughout the test, which worried me a lot. I was preparing to go to 265. I felt very comfortable taking the test, I was familiar with a lot of the questions (thanks to kaplan and hurst). Lots of conference questions and alternative type questions. I'm so relieved it's over with though. I couldn't help but try the pvt, and so far have the good pop up. Crossing my fingers that I see my name on ca bon site. Thank you all for the support, tips and reassurance! time to relax

congrats RN :) do hurst+kaplan really helped you a lot? if so, could you give to us the reason? i will be taking my 2nd attempt this december and i will invest on those companied. i just need some assurance. thanks :)

I averaged 62% on the q bank, but it was only because I re-did the questions I did wrong right after I did then, so it wasn't a very accurate reading of my q bank average. I would say my qbank scores ranged from 45% to no higher than 57%. The only time I was able to get 75% was when I redid the questions.

My hurst scores ranged from 71 to 88 (out of 125- not percentages). My average for hurst percentage wise was 55% to 70%.

My kaplan q trainers were

Qt 1 53%

Qt 2 65%

Qt 3 52%

Qt 4 51%

Qt 5. 52%

Qt 6 56.5%

Qt 7. 61.8%

My ncsbn learning ext average was mid 50s.

As you can tell my scores were not all that great, and at times it was very discouraging.

Learning core content through hurst made it so much easier to break down the questions, and the kaplan questions/strategies just made everything tie together and stick. Pleaseee please don't cram and memorize diseases and disorders. Understand them and work on critical thinking through questions.

Watch the test taking strategy videos from kaplan (: please feel free to ask any more questions

THANKS for sharing all this info! I really appreciate it! And I know how you feel that getting low scores can be discouraging.. that's how my entire nursing school has been... Low scores! But I still can pass boards! So thank you for giving me hope! Today I take my nlcex- rn exam, and I am hoping for the best! Crossing fingers! :)

Lisa everyone is nervous lol...and seriously I really understand. I'm testing on Monday and I was freaking out the last two weeks. However, I said I really need to chill out and just study the most I can and stay calm. Honestly if you get nervous or really stressed you can study very well or answer questions well. I been praying a lot to Christ and asking him to please keep me calm during exam and be able to read the question and answer the best answer. Lets see how I feel during the weekend lol. However, I am starting to feel a little burnt out from studying. But I im going to keep pushing myself. I need to do Q-trainer 7 tomorrow. I got a 71 on Q-trainer 6....so I was happy about that. I was more focused on what the question is asking and didn't look at that stupid clock and was calm. Guessed that help. I'm doing the SATA test today and content review for Peds...because I honestly feel like I am not good in peds. Well hoping for the best and get that good pop-up.

Good luck to everyone who is testing soon....we can do this!!!!!!!!!

J. Do you think Kaplan is harder than NCLEX or similar?

I think they are very similar. Kaplans sata were harder, but the questions I received were comparable to qbank questions. I was able to use the decision tree for maybe half my test

I took the NCLEX July29th as well! Started at 1:30PM and ended around 3PM after 108 questions. Honestly I felt like I failed it, had about 12 SATAs, 3 Calculations, 1 Exhibit and a bunch of conference questions (I hated those). So far I've been getting the Pop Up on Pearson Vue but I still have my doubts about it. I hope we pass coz I don't want to go through it again!

Yeah, I felt like I was really speeding through the questions it took me about 3 hours to get through 170 questions. I walked out so confused lol I was expecting to come out of the test devastated and defeated by nclex, but u walked out think 'hmmm that wasn't too bad' which really freaked me out. It was 20 minutes before I could get myself together to drive lol. My conference questions weren't that bad. They almost seemed to be recall/recognition questions because they would ask for s/sx of a disease or precautions for a certain disease. Did you get a lot of alternative questions??

Reason why I hated the conference questions is I felt like they were on the easy level and made me think I must be doing bad, and I kept having them towards the end. What alternative questions? I just had sata, meds, drag n drop, and exhibit. Gosh! I think PVT is just making me more nervous.

you know something I feel that the q-bank questions are harder than the Q-trainers lol....I been getting 60 percent consistently on last few tests

if you got the good pop up.....you passed.
