Those who just took the NCLEX

Nursing Students NCLEX

Did you ever feel like you were ready? How do you know you were ready? Just wondering...I take NCLEX RN next week....I've been doing at least 100 questions a day since 3rd week of May. I feel like I'm not ready, but then, I don't know what else to do... I'm so tired that I just want to get it over with and move on with my life. :uhoh3:

I just took it yesterday and don't know my results. I didn't know what to expect....so i wasn't sure if i was ready. I took the ati predictor as a program requirement and it gave me a 99 percent chance of testing.......what i will tell you is that i walked out feeling like i knew nothing... :) but i think that is a good thing because that means the questions were hard ;).... right..... so nervous

You are never going to feel 100% ready to take the NCLEX. Study until you feel comfortable with the basic material and then schedule your test date. Other than the money wasted retaking the test, I would much rather take it 3 times in 4 months than study forever and only take it once in that entire timeframe.

Sometimes, you just need to roll the dice and trust that you retained some information. The test primarily checks your ability to think your way thru the questions anyway. Basic content knowledge + critical thinking skills = NCLEX.

I took the NCLEX RN yesterday and let me tell you I did not feel confident at all. I mean you hear the horror stories of people failing and all kinds of things. But I personally did about 50 questions a day and some days I did 100. I stuided Kaplan not the course but the stragies book, Lacharity, and Saunders. Like everybody says just do questions over and over again and pay attention to rationales. Pay close attention to infection control I had ALOT of those as well as priority and SATA. I found out that I passed today and I am soooo excited that Florida is one of those states that lets you know in 24hrs for free to boot. But good luck to you and don't pay attention if you don't stop at a certain number I had 200 questions and passed!

Nobody ever feels ready enough. But there comes a point where you have to realize it is time to go for it.

I didn't feel ready at all and I just took mine yesterday. However, like someone mentioned, I felt going in that even if I failed, it would be a great learning experience to experience the actual test. I got cut-off at 75 questions and left nigh on certain that I failed.

Just to update i passed at 75 :) To prepare i only had a weeks notice of when i was going to take the nclex. for me i had been practicing about 50-200 a night while i watched tv (that sounds bad but i actually focus better with noise) I really tried to change my strategy to more intense the week i had to prepare for the test but i had a family situation that comendeered my time so i didn't do much more than i had been doing. so that final week I did about 300 to 400 questions a day. I had read a 'strategy' book to prepare for the ati predictor and i think that is very important to understand how to indentify key words in the quesions. To be honest with you even the first few questons i got on the test i didn't know but i reasoned it out and when i looked them up later i had gotten them right. On the 2nd question I panicked and stared at it for 3 minutes trying to talk myself out of my answer because i wasn't sure, I made a policy to go with my gut on each question after that. my classmate took it the same day. i finished in an hour and she in 3 hours we both got 75 questions and we both passed......we just had completely opposite strategies. i think that you have to know your learning style and go with what works for you. for me doing a couple thousand questions and reading every rationale (even if you get it right there is often extra info in the rationales) gave me a lot of confidence in my ability to make an educated 'guess' . Good luck to You!

I'm happy for you, evolving.
