That was one hard test

Nursing Students NCLEX

I thought this thing was supposed to measure basic nursing knowledge. I got 8, count em 8, of the check all that apply questions. At one point I got 3 of those in a row. Bunch of nutrition questions. Obscure stuff like does this odd ball herb interact with any of these drugs I've never heard of. Which of these meals is highest in this trace mineral. About 15 prioritizing questions which were very vague involving patients who were very close in the seriousness of their issue. Not at all like the practice tests I thought, much more difficult. I could always seem to narrow it down to two answers but it was pure guesswork from there. I'm just wondering what the point of this was? Most of the stuff I was tested upon didn't seem to have any real world relevance. I was just happy it shut off at 75 questions, I don't think I could have lasted through 265. Well, I'll find out in 24 hours.

Good luck:flowersfo. I just took the NCLEX on the 21st. It was a very surreal experience. I have no idea how those questions determined my nursing competency, but they apparently did b/c I passed.

Chances are that those "way out there" questions were the 15 questions that don't count. I got almost a 4.0 in school and found it sooooo difficult. The fact that the computer shut off at 75 questions and they were difficult ones is a GOOD SIGN!! Mine did too and I found out today that I passed. Good luck!!

Yeah, just found out I passed. My license number was on the Board of Nursing website before Pearson even listed the exam results. Still not sure the point of the whole thing though.

Specializes in Med-Surg, Trauma, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac.

Congrats on passing.

Specializes in Adult Med-Surg, Rehab, and Ambulatory Care.
Yeah, just found out I passed.

Congo rats! :)

.

i got that herbal meds interaction with prescription drug.. i think i had around 10 alternative questions as well.i answered 75 and it stopped. i feel that i have not proven myself enough though. i think the test is so much more about critical thinking that anything else.i will get my results on monday.

First of all, congrats to everyone who found out they passed. I envy you guys who can find out in two days. I just took mine today and had 75...didn't have that herbal question but I had another. They must be incorporating more alternative medicine into the test. I had a lot of nutrition stuff also and priority/delegation, infection control (precautions). It was definately hard to say the least. I wish you all the best!!
