Saunders Comprehensive Review NCLEX-RN

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

We are asked to buy this book for NS (starting 12 month ABSN program in Jan), and the most current edition is the 4th edition 2007.

I can get the 3rd edition 2006 version for less than half...would you do it? Or is this one that I should have the most updated version?

My thinking is that I will be taking the NCLEX in a little over a year and may want the 2008 version to help study for it, but while in school the 2006 would suffice.

Thanks for your help!

Personally I would get the 4th Edition and doubt it will be reviewed for a few more years. Better to get the most up to date book

know any for the lpn?

i have both 3rd and 4th ed. and i strongly recommend the 4th ed. what another $20 for a more up to date version?

saunders 4th helped me pass mt nclex-rn by the way.

so best of luck!

I found this book before I sat the exam for the third time and much preferred it both as a review and with the questions

I went to Barnes and Noble recently and compared my Saunders old 2nd edition with Saunders new 4th edition. Besides that they added a few more illustrations and photos there is no difference at all. Every chapter is exactly this same, this same material.

But if they want you to buy a newest one, buy it!!! Teachers know what they do and there must be some reason.

Good luck to you.:wink2:

There are changes with the editions otherwise they won't bring them out. The new editions also have the new format questions and if any revisions need making they will have been done

I would go with the newest version. Haven't looked at it, but have heard that it also addresses the new format. Always best to go with latest edition of a book if you can afford it, if you have any idea that there has been a major change.

Sorry, but there is significant difference in the chapters if you read thru them. There are also no newer format questions in the second and third editions for the RN exam.

THe 4th edition is the latest version of the RN program, and the 3rd edition is the current one for the PN exams.

If there was not enough difference, they would have not put out a new edition. I have the second, third, and fourth editions of the RN book and there is much new information that is added. Sure, the basics stay the same, the human body is still the same; but how we do things improves as well as the format of the types of questions changes as well.

Nothing stays the same. If asking for our opinion, always get the latest edition that is out there. And that foes for my program as well.

Just bought the 4th edition. Hoping it helps. Starting to feel a little down about this test
