Passed with Few Sata

Hello...

I want to encourage anyone about to take nclex.

I took nclex 2nd time and passed.

During the exam, i did not have that many Sata questions. I was freaking out because "people" say that when you get alot of sata that means your passing. NOT true. Out of the 126 questions I got, majority were Priority "first, most" etc. I probably only had 10-15 sata. I wasnt counting. But for those few sata I eliminated answers using T/F.Good luck everyone.

Did you have exhibit, ekg, med cal, drop/drag questions?

I had 1 picture. 1 exhibit. No math and 1 drag and drop that was an easy topic but had to many options that i wasnt familiar with.

1 had a little over a 1/3 of my questions be sata, 5 drag and drop, 3 exhbits, 1 picture, no listening, no math, no ekg. And what felt like a ton of priority and diet.

I passed and had 247 questions, 30 of them were SATA, one was drag and drop, 2 were medication calculations, and one ECG picture.

When I took the nclex (back in September.) I hardly had any SATA (maybe 10, possibly 15 but that's pushing it.) My classmates kept saying that they had "tons" and "tons" and it was making me really nervous. I did however, have quite a few "priority" and "delegation" questions. I had one drag and drop, and one picture question, and zero math problems. I ended up finishing in under an hour at 85 questions (the minimum for the PN nclex.)

- What I found interesting (that I later learned after taking the nclex) is that the "priority" and "delegation" questions ARE considered "higher level questions". Most people think that it's SATA questions that are "higher level", (wrong!) I remember having a SATA question (I can't go into specifics) but let's just say it was a question about a certain diet, and it was incredibly easy that I seriously couldn't believe my eyes. The trade-off for that question was having a delegation question regarding psych (my favorite subject) that made me wanna crawl under desk and find a way to teleport to another dimension.

- As long as you studied and prepared well, have some faith in your abilities, and remember how far you've come since starting nursing school, you can conquer the NCLEX.

I had pretty much the same experience as you! Anyone wanting to know what to focus on, priority is a big one. 80% of my test was focused on that. Congrats! Passing NCLEX is the most amazing feeling! =D

I used ncsbn questions and content from hurst. My advice to you would be do whats best for you. I di not do alot of content, i felt as though 2 years on nursing was enough. My problem was learning to answer questions. Ncsbn was best for me because the questions were challenging. I would make notes as i studied the questions. i learnt to think critically. I also felt they concentrated on important things.
