Panicking about sata questions

I had a bunch of SATA on my NCLEX. And I'm no good at them either! The best thing any teacher ever told me to do was to view each response as a true or false statement. For example (and this is fairly easy, just to make a point):

You attended a conference about patient safety in the LTC setting. Which of the following would you educate your fellow staff members about?

A.) Turn off all the lights in a dementia patients room so they will fall asleep easier.

B.) Remove all throw rugs from the residents room to prevent falls.

C.) Ground all electrical chords and tape along the baseboards.

D.) Let the resident go without shoes during activity.

Now obviously these are easy, but you can see how you can go through each one and decide "Yes this is true. This will prevent accidents." Or "No, this could cause an accident." Just try to relate your true/false responses with the main point the the question is trying to convey, (in this case it is patient safety!)

I think everyone dislikes the SATA. I'm terrible with them. I just took NCLEX Sat and out of 85 questions, 23 were SATA. It was tough, but just answer each option as a true/false statement until you get through each option.

I've seen people on AN post about a SATA CD by Saunders. You might look into that if you're looking for a program that specifically focuses on these types of questions.

I treated all of my SATA as T/F and it does help.

I used NCLEX- RN 4000 and did about 100 SATA. I started to do better using the T/F strategy.

"I love SATA questions on NCLEX said no RN to be ever". Haha . But I personally enjoy SATAs because you get to live the moment and ofcourse the True or False method always works.

*Just remember to start with the PATHO PHYSIOLOGY FIRST if applicable. It's important to know the content first.

*For Delegation/Prioritization -- Do not delegate what you can "EAT" - Evaluate, Assess, Teach -- so cross those out once you see the keywords. For prioritization -- Remember your ABCs, the "who will die first".

*Eliminate what you know is incorrect.

Most of all breath, do not panic... See the question as if you your really in that situation and the NCLEX is a perfect world.
