  1. I can't say that it is all generic names. I pretty much saw some trade names here and there.
  2. Yes good luck to both of us... AGAIN. Lol, well at least all the stress from when we were registering the first time is now put aside. We now know what to do and was able to do it previously. I appreciate your opinions about NCSBN, KAPLAN & HURST. I am officially starting to review hurst. I purchased it just yesterday and printed all the PDF workbooks today. I will probably do NCSBN after this or along with this but not Kaplan since I don't really have that much to splurge. I will probably go ahead and purchase a Kaplan strategy book on ebay like you said. It's difficult to compare when you really have no clue what their content would be. I'm giving hurst a shot and hopefully it will work for me. :) I was also near passing and also knew I failed so it didn't hurt that much. How did you feel about your exam?
  3. In your opinion, do you think more difficult questions will help you prepare for the NCLEX better? :) Thanks.
  4. Hi thank you for your reply, I had also heard that Kaplan = Strategy and Hurst = Content. To be honest the PDA book did help me during NCLEX though it was a pretty good book I believe. I'm looking into taking HURST just because I've been out of nursing school for a bit. Thank you for your reply.
  5. Hi Suzy I don't know if you remember me but we had many and I mean many posts and replies to each other when we we're still applying. From CGFNS to the Boards. I thank you for all your help, unfortunately after all those I am not successful with the NCLEX. I would really look into the books that you recommend. I wish I could do both Kaplan and HURST to make a comparison myself but I just can't afford it at the moment. In what areas do you think your confident with kaplan and hurst? What makes them different?
  6. Hi what made you say that Kaplan is not as good as hurst? Can you please do a comparison of both in your opinion? I would really appreciate it. :)
  7. What do you think the reason is on how Kaplan helped you pass? :) Are you good in content beforehand or vice versa? Thank you for your reply, I appreciate it.
  8. I suggest for you to rest a little bit 'till you feel your ready again. Don't push yourself too hard as this may cause more stress. Breath and do something you love. As you said you are overwhelmed by it, so I assume this is the time we should draw the line, praise yourself for all the hard work you have done. I feel you as I have recently failed also and am trying to find another way to study. I have rested and is now ready for this NCLEX monkey again. :) "Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time." -Thomas A. Edison
  9. Woah really? May I know what content is free? Thanks for the info!
  10. I know, I know there had been many questions about this topic. I also know that it depends on the test taker if either of the two would work. It's just that I don't have all the money in the world to do both. If only I did I really would. I recently took my exam on 10/06/14 and failed on first try at 89 questions. I am a foreign educated nurse who is not among the 30% that passes on the first try. I had given myself some time to put it together and is now willing to study again. I have re-registered with the boards and peasonvue. Now what irks me is, how should I study this time around? What should I use? What review should I take? My first try taking it I took the course called NCLEX75 of SIMPLENURSING.COM. It cost me $350, now that they have refunded that amount I want to try KAPLAN or HURST and see if it works this time. I also used the PDA by LaCharity book and Mary Ann Hogan Comprehensive review. I also purchased the NCLEX MASTERY APP for $30 I believe. Please help as I am as lost as in the beginning. Thank you in advance.
  11. Oh yeah... Those were the ones I felt confident in also. But hey don't worry too much every exam is unique. Maybe we should focus on our weak areas and scan through those we know we do pretty well on.
  12. Hi chelsh! I am on a break. I'm actually in Houston right now trying the release all the stress. Will be heading back to California next week to study again! How long is the access for Kaplan? How much is it if you do not mind?
  13. FAIL was the word I first saw once I opened my eyes after hitting that submit button for the payment. I stared blankly at my screen for about a good 2 minutes. Then I signed out realizing I'm not one of the 30% FENs who passes at first take. Sad? Yes. Crushed? Yes. But mostly, I'm ready for another take. First attempt I did not get to prove I am competent. I know I got what it takes and I am not giving up because I failed once. I have reflected over this for the past 48 hours. Right when I walked out of the testing center I just knew I failed. I had 89 questions, most of the questions I haven't even heard about. I felt like nothing I studied for were in the test. I did not get any OB, PSYCH AND PEDIATRICS at all. I got a lot of PHARMACOLOGY and PDAs. No LABS, ABGs but a few EKGs. Set this aside, I'm excited to re-take NCLEX. What I used before may have not worked for me so I am willing to try another way to study. Materials I used were, Mary Ann Hogan Comprehensive Review, PDA by La Charity and Michael Linares NCLEX75.com course. I will now get my refund for not passing from the nclex75.com course and I am looking at KAPLAN OR HURST REVIEW. I don't know much about those and I'm still trying to do my research. Suggestions will be helpful. :) Please let me know what worked for you, at this point I am back to zero. I am open for anything.
  14. Chelsh, what a great feeling it must be! 30 more minutes for mine I guess. I have no idea what to expect.
  15. Exactly, it's so sad how a computer system "determines" if you are comptent. What about the stuff you do actually know but weren't asked. I would preffer a pen and paper exam with 500 questions right about now with questions you can skip over and look back on. Arghh the anxiety is killing me. I too have a daughter who is now 6 and whole family is counting on me. I feel like I failed everybody specially my daughter. I don't know how to go about explaining to her of my failure. I guess we have to keep positive despite all. I guess I am not one of the 30% foreign educated nurses who pass NCLEX for the first time. We'll find our way through this computer for sure. Stay positive! We will soon be registered nurses!
