Near Passing Standard on NCLEX

I got my letter back to tell me I failed NCLEX. This was my second time taking it. I got Near Passing Standard in all areas. Can anyone explain this to me. I have been to the NCSBN web site and read about it but I still don't understand what it means. I just am trying to figure it out so I can figure out my plan of study for the next time I take NCLEX.

I was wondering the same thing. What does near passing mean? Can some one please explain it, PLEASE!!!

I just read, on the NCSBN site, that near passing means that the computer was not 95% sure that one was above the passing standard or below the passing standard in that particular area. I hope this helps.

Don't waste time trying to figure this out because you will receive an entirely new set of questions, where the previous "situation" will have no bearing. You need to concentrate on learning the material behind the questions so that you can answer questions correctly no matter how they are worded. Good luck.

I agree with caliotter3..to study, just make sure you know the material with emphasis on your weakness, practice a lot with priority and delegation after u have mastered the material. I know I failed the first time with near passing on all the areas...it was quite frustrating! Don't give up and good luck!

I took the nclex recently and I just got my results in from the state board of nursing. It said I was near passing standard on everything but psychosocial integrity. I am now reading the davis book hoping it helps. Does anyone have any thoughts on this. I will be studying psychosocial integrity since this is where I am weak but how should I study for the rest since I was near passing on eveything else? Just do questions and read. I am stressed about how to get a plan so I can retake the test. Any thoughts on this? I just want to pass this and move on I do not want to have to retake this test again.

Having near passing standard means it is not within the competence level that the adaptive test is looking. I had results like this before. Although it is good to study your areas of weakness, I suggest you still review or give attention also to other areas. Basically, back to zero. Start all over and review like you never took the exam.

1. Study content more. Make flash cards to topics that you forget or want to compare. I used Saunder's for this.

2. Davis is good but during my review some questions and rationale have wrong info on it. So I'd suggest get other material for your supplemental questionnaires. Try Lippincot's or Exam Cram.

3. LaCharity is a MUST. If you don't have it yet, acquire it now. It helps a lot in preparation for prioritization and delegation questions.
