  1. I am a new nurse who decided to work in a longterm care facility because you learn the residents who do not change like the hospital and was wondering about time management because I have 22 residents with alot of insulin issues besides 2 med passes on my shift and wound care along with 2 cna's. I want to be good at what I do but I am finding that there is so much to remeber to accomplish plus the added orders and phone calls to families and doc's. I find that when I work on the weekends I am okay but when I add on the additional component related to new orders which can be alot then I always forget something not patient meds or wound care it is more related to putting in the new order etc... Does anyone have any advice because I have only been by myself on the floor for a week (4 shifts) I do not want to make a mistake and lose my job. Help please. melissa
  2. They do say the questions get harder but what they really mean is the type of question you get changes when you are reaching passing level they are the analysis and application questions. Yes , this is all a matter of your perception. I studied alot, I did 300 or more questions a day for a couple of weeks before I took the test. visualize yourself passing the test and tell yourself everday you will pass this helped me find the courage to take the test. Remember instead of choosing the right answer eliminate the worng answers. Did you do kaplan where you use the decision tree? Things like physical or pyschosocial equals physical needs over psychosocial needs then use maslow's if all the answers are psychosocial. Do not forget the family component to nursing care. Know your signs and symptoms and if the question is an sata asking for signs and symptoms please choose all objective never subjective since it is a matter of the patients perspective. Do not overwhelmed if you have a lot of sata questions just lean back close your eyes for a second and focus. You could also get all 265 questions this means nothing from what I understand you could be just passing or even just under passing. I also recommend checking your licensing agency online a couple hours after the test. I knew 6 hours after the test that I had passed based on the good pop up when I tried to re-register for the test and it would not let me. Good Luck Melissa
  3. COngrats:D The SATA's are just alternate question types. I find out though alternate questions that ask for signs and symptoms always pick the objective never the subjective. Have a good journey.
  4. Hopefully congradulations are in order! The thing I have found is it is one challenge after another. The good pop up worked for me but nothing is ever 100%. Look on the licensing agency of your state to see if you passed that is how I found out I passed I never looked at the testing center results. These come up pretty fast I found out the same day I took the test. Pass school then the nclex then orientate to a job. Melissa
  5. As a new nurse I welcome the knowledge of all nurses, degrees do not always matter it is about the experience and knowledge base which new nurses do not have. Degrees do matter in some sense of the word and should be acknowledged somehow. I as with my friends do not care about what degree you have but how we can work together to accomplish the goal of good, quality patient care.
  6. DO NOT GIVE UP! It will click and then here so you will be sitting for your boards. I just graduated in December and failed my boards the first time. I felt sorry for myself for a few days then jumped back on the horse and passed the next time. You need to figure out how you learn. There are personality sites on the internet for this and they will question you and then tell you how you learn. I learn best by listening and taking notes and I forget reading if I can get away with it. You just have to figure you out so you can succeed in school. I make up silly sentences if I need to remember something like the stuff for the cranial nerves such as "some say money matters but my brother says bling bling matters more" so s= sensory M= motor and b= both sensory and motor. Remember alot of stuff goes back to basic med-surg keep the book handy it should be your bible at this point. Good Luck
  7. Sorry i know you posted this years ago but you had the answer i wanted are they like the real exam questions? Thanks
  8. I took the nclex recently and I just got my results in from the state board of nursing. It said I was near passing standard on everything but psychosocial integrity. I am now reading the davis book hoping it helps. Does anyone have any thoughts on this. I will be studying psychosocial integrity since this is where I am weak but how should I study for the rest since I was near passing on eveything else? Just do questions and read. I am stressed about how to get a plan so I can retake the test. Any thoughts on this? I just want to pass this and move on I do not want to have to retake this test again.
  9. I just took the NCLEX and I had all pharmacology and like 50 sata questions with alot of risk infection thrown in I am at a loss as to how I did. We all worry and stress. I hope you passed the test if not take it again because you will be fine. It is all about timing.
