NCLEX Preparation

Nursing Students NCLEX

Does anyone have any suggestions as to which NCLEX review book is the best?

Thanks a bunch!!

I was told by a graduate senior at my school that Mosby's has the hardest questions and helped her out a ton on the HESI. So I just bought that one, and I also have been working on Saunder's, and I think it's really good. Hope this helps!

When I was studying for the NCLEX I had about 6 or 7 books. :D LOL, but I passed. Lippincott's and Mosby's both have good books. Both Lippincott's and Mosby's give you the correct answers to the questions and the rationale behind it. There's also a book with just facts if you don't want to do multiple choice questions. I think it's called "Frye's 2500 Nursing Bullets". GOOD LUCK!:)

geesh!!

i am still trying to prepare for my first semester.. i wish it was time to prepare for the nclex :p

I agree Mosby and Lippincott are both good. I just brought another, I brought Saunders and I really like that one. Nurs2b I use to think the same about why worry about the NCLEX now but I kept hearing from my instructors and the seniors that you should really start from day 1. One of my instructors said she strongly recommends that you have a NCLEX book from day one not only does it help for nursing school tests but it helps you prepare early on. So if you don't have a NCLEX book yet look into getting one if ALL possible.

An NCLEX review book is also good to have to study for finals. I have "Davis NCLEX-RN Success" and I like it a lot. It comes with a 2000 question CD-rom that lets you customize your practice tests, and keep track of your progress. I loved the fact that it was so concise, and could help me organize what I needed to study (Because my notes were far from organized!)

Cali,

Every time a new one comes out, I get it....I am bound and determined to pass the first time.....:) I think I have 7 or 8 of them, plus the bullets one....

YIKES!

Marla

MRed94,

I was just like you. I was determined to pass the NCLEX the "first" time. I did not want to take it again. A friend of mine took the NCLEX 3 times. Whenever I finished one book and I had time to read another before the NCLEX, I bought a new one. You can never learn too much. I learned something new with each book I bought. Read as many books as you feel that you need to. GOOD LUCK!:p

I just got the Lippincott NCLEX review (7th ed) and I think it's great. It gives NCLEX style questions and really good rationales! ;)

cd-rom??? i have a couple cd roms - nclex 3000 (springhouse) and another one i can't remember the name of.... wonder-ful!!! i sit here on my laptop all day long - immediate feedback to tests w/out flipping pages!! also keeps track of your "weaknesses" ect! :)

I graduated from my AD program about a year and a half ago (I'm now almost done w/ my BSN), & I used several books to study from. I think the best one I had was the NSNA review book. You can find it in most of the bookstores, &, as an added bonus, if you're a NSNA member, you can order it for a discount!!!! Lots of pharmacology questions, and really good general review questions as well. I don't think I would have went into the NCLEX-RN as confident without it:D (Another note--I later found out that I only missed a couple of questions on my entire exam--out of 75 questions!!)

Happy studying, and remember, you learned what you needed to in nursing school to pass the NCLEX-RN or you wouldn't have graduated.

;)

I WAS TOLD BY MANY WHO PASSED BOARDS THAT THE KAPLAN AND SAUNDERS HELPED THEM AND THE SAUNDERS CAME WITH A CD ROM AS WELL. I ALSO HAVE MANY CD ROMS DOWNLOADED ON MY LAPTOP BUT THE ONES THAT ALLOW YOU TO PRINT OUT YOUR RESULTS ARE THE ONES I AM USING NOW AS MY COLLEGE MAKES ALL THE GRADUATE RN STUDENTS DO 5000 QUESTIONS BEFORE THEY RELEASE THE PAPERWORK TO APPLY TO TAKE STATE BOARDS. THE NCLEX 3000 IS VERY NICE I LIKE THAT AND NCLEX-RN MADE INSANELY EASY CD- ROM ( IN WHICH MY INSTRUCTOR GAVE ALL OF US A COPY OF IT TO DOWNLOAD ON OUR COMPUTERS IS REALLY GOOD ....WE ALSO GOT A CD ROM FROM OUR INSTRUCTOR PASS MASTER BY MEDS AND IT IS REALLY NICE AS WELL. I THINK SHE ORDERED ALL THESE CD ROMS AS PROMOTIONAL DEALS BUT SHE IS GOING ALL THE WAY OUT FOR US BECAUSE SHE WANTS ALL OF US TO BE SUCCESSFUL AND PASS THE BOARDS ON THE FIRST GO ROUND.
