I just took the NCLEX - PN, my thoughts.

I feel like burning most the LVN review books I bought as they did me no good what-so-ever on the NCLEX. The questions I got came out of left field. Stuff that wasn't taught in school like post mordum care for jewish men and questions about the Buhdist faith. I couldn't believe the questions I got. It felt like I guessed at half the questions. What a terrible feeling I have now. I have went threw the ENTIRE Saunders LNV review book and cd TWICE, that's 6,000 questions, as well as the kaplan review book, "lvn made easy", and the mosby cd. Total review questions and rationales done exceeded 8,000. Yet it didn't help me at all. Yes I read the rationales for ALL the questions/ answers. The NCSBN.ORG review was the only thing that helped me as the questions were similar to the NCLEX.

The VAST majority of question were priority questions. I had learned all the tricks to answer these in the Kaplan book. Only one big problem....the priority questions in kaplan are a complete joke (very easy) compared to the actual NCLEX ones which were brutal.

My computer shut off at 85 and I am positive I got the 85th question wrong because I looked it up when I got home. I hear if the computer stops at 85 and you miss the last question ...you most likely failed if you weren't doing so hot. I wanted to throw up when I left the testing center.

So hear I sit and have to wait 3 weeks to get result in CA. I will start checking the LVN board website next week, but I have a bad feeling my name won't be up there and I will have to take the NCLEX again.

wow! this sucks so bad..its about 22 days and ive got nothing:angryfire ..i hope you get something atleast..this isnt good i guess if its taking this long...man i hope we dont get bad news right before christmas:crying2: ..well lets keep waiting i guess..hey have you been going on the website to see if your name is posted on there yet? mine isnt on there...

-for the people that have passed there lvn boards how long before you saw you name on the boards website? was it before or after you recieved your results?..

yes, getting a failing result before christmas would just ruin the holiday mood for me. it's been about 20 - 21 days since i took the nclex and the wait is really the most brutal part. i get asked daily if i passed from classmates and co-workers. when i say i am still waiting the lvn's give me this look and say they didn't have to wait that long. it really sucks hearing this as it makes me think i failed. i really try not to think about the nclex but it is impossible. my future depends on this result. i have a great jop lined up and just need my result to get it.

i have given up checking the lvn board. it depressed me to not see my name up thier week after week, but like pine said, her's isn't up there yet and she passed. that is refreshing.

popcorn21.....you should be getting your result today or wednsday, and i think i will get mine thursday or friday since you took yours a few days earlier.

And remember: a small, business-sized envelope is good news because it will likely contain a license. A huge envelope is bad news because that means you failed NCLEX and therefore need to complete more paperwork. I am crossing my fingers and praying that you all receive a little envelope.

yeah , once I open the mailbox I will know instantly if I passed or failed. A big envolope will get thrown across the parking lot and jumped on repeatedly, and a small envelope will give me a much more positive outburst. hehe

Those of you who are taking California LVN boards won't see your name on the website until you pay an additional $100 licensing fee. Therefore, it's pointless to keep looking on the B.O.N. website for your name when it will not yet appear. The California LVN boards operate totally by hand, so you will be notified of your NCLEX results strictly by mail only.

yeah i took mine on november 28th..so its been a bit of a wait..i didnt get anything in the mail today so im assuming il be getting something tomm or thursday like you said..but darn i hate this miserable wait its really getting to me..well il just keep checking the mail i guess...good luck..

oh and one more thing you shouldnt feel down about ppl telling you how it didnt take them that long to get there results because this alot of ppl take there test around this time and its going to be slow regardless bc its christmas. I dont understand the diff between the size of the envelope i know one is thick and the other in thin..unless one is larger width wise..but anyways where are you going to be working if you do pass?

Yeah, I figured the lvn board was slower this time of year. The difference in envelopes is the small white envelope means you will have a short but oh so sweet "you passed" letter. The bigger envelope (width wise) will contain a new application as well as a description of the questions of got wrong.I have always heard small envelope= good, big envelope = bad.

I plan to work for the dept. of corrections in northern california. The hiring process is very long. I have been at it for 4.5 months . You think the lvn boards move slow LOL!!!!!!!! I have my final interview the 28th of December. People think I am crazy for working in a prison but it doesn't faze me. I am ex military and I am a big guy, hence the name big B, so I can handle my self.

Also a lot of prisoners aren't the violent type as well, lots of drug abusers etc.

Ideally, I will get a passing result from the boards this week with you. Then start at the prison STAT. I am currently working pm shift at a nursing home and have no disire to work there, but I may have to work there as an lvn if i can';t get on with corrections fast. I will let the nursing home know of my plan to leave though..so i don;t work as an lvn for a week or two and quit.

hey guys,

I took my nclex pn yesterday. Cut off at 85 questions and I'm pretty sure I got the last question wrong. My mind was just numb as i exited the testing center. But now that I had a chance to think through, I'm more anxious and stressed out. So now I trying to figure out if the last question was "easy" or not. I reviewed a lot of nclex books but the test questions were definitely different.

I can relate to what BigB and popcorn are going through. The only good news is that in tx u get the results in 48 hrs. I'm trying to find courage and strength..as I wait for the result. one more day to go..

UGH! I graduated on the 14th and I am eagerly awaiting my ATT to arrive!!! I wish I could take the test....I have a job and all lined up, just gotta take the test.

So the questions were weird, eh?

Well today is wednesday 12/21/2005 and i didnt get anything in the mail so i guess il wait til tomm..or friday..or even sat..:angryfire ..but anyways im currently working in a clinic..while waiting for my boards but once i get that which i pray to god i do ..il quit and work for the state..its also a local prison..its similar to yours..their all just drug abusers..there not real big criminals..and all you do is pass meds all day and the pay is real sweet. So il be looking forward to that bc now im making crapy money its like basically nothing and i hate it so much..my whole life is in the hands of this license..:angryfire ..so i better pass. Well i hope your job works out for you..and i really do hope you pass. Man this wait really sucks..and it seems like every time i go and check the mail i get so nervous and scared..even though theres nothing in there..but still im really starting to hate this now.. anyways have a great holiday and keep in touch and let me know how things go..Merry X-mas. :rolleyes:

I understand what you are going through 100%. We are on day 23 (for me) and day 25 (for you). This is absolutly insane. If i don't get my results by monday I am calling the state board. I know they won't give me my result over the phone, but I want to know what the hold up is. I had a bad feeling come over me after checking for my results this afternoon. I thought "what if the lvn board is purposfully not sending out failing results BEFORE the holidays."

Another thing I can't get out of my mind is this dam rumor around my work that the nurses keep repeating. They say PASSING nclex results are recieved in about 2 weeks, failing results 4 weeks. The LVN's here swear the faster the results, the better the score. It is so annoying hearing this when we are on week 3! But they all have passed and said they got there results in 2 weeks.

Ok, trying to think positive, but this wait has made me want to go out and get smashed at a bar (and I don't drink.) I think that would only be a temperary fix to this problem, so I won't do it...but I definitly need more outlets. I lift weights a couple nights a week and that really helps.

Popcorn21 , what part of california are you from? I am from the sacramento area.
