Help! How to Study for NCLEX

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

hello all, i have been struggling passing this dreaded nclex and there are usually 3 reasons people don't pass: 1. knowledge deficiet, 2. test anxiety, 3. misreading the questions

i have taken the test before and have been unsuccessful. i have studied out of kaplan's book, mosby's book (which the questions are pretty difficult in this book), nsna book, medpubs, ncsbn online course, hesi review course does anyone have any suggestions as to where to start to try to start studying again for this horrible exam? and the sad thing is its not knowledge deficiet as i have worked with a nurse educator and we have narrowed it down that i am misreading questions... i need some help please....

should i make note cards to questions that i get wrong?

should i start over in one book and do all the tests and then the ones that i am not getting a good percentage of the questions right review the material ??

how many questions per day?

what books are the best to study from??

if anyone could help it would be definately appreciated - i am planning on taking my exam over in 45 days...

saunders comprehensive book 3rd ed by silvestri

i think suzzane is giving a study guide.. you're just going to send a PM to her and request for that guide..

I would also have to agree,SAUNDERS COMP REVIEW is what you need to use to pass the nclex.

Hi, I feel your pain.....BELIEVE ME, I graduated from Vocational Nursing (LVN) School last Aug. 05, and unfortunately because of Board Issues...I have just been granted permission to test, back in May 06 . My scheduled test date is on July 25th, and I'm very terrified. I'm not taking the RN exam, but nonetheless it's still NCLEX....I found this website:http://www.caring4you.net , and there's a review called Taylor Review on this site http://www.passmynclex.com ..Well I spoke to the actual person/Tutor that runs this site, and her name is Donna Taylor, she has a PHD in Nurisng (I think she use to be a professor)...well anyways she specializes in getting graduates prepared for the NCLEX RN or PN, on a one-to-one basis. I have signed-up with her, and she is great. In my case, I just contacted her like 1 week ago so, honestly she advised me that I would have a 50 50 chance of passing this exam on my 1st try. Because I did not study with her in ample enough time. Nonetheless, look-up her website above, and see if this is something you might consider, she avaliable at all hours....

i've checked out that website i think my thing is i've paid so much in review courses i've taken 3 - one when i graduated, the hesi one and then the ncsbn online and i dont really have the money to afford another one plus i am a full time student completing my bachelor's degree in nursing so it is kind of hard to work and do school, and do nclex...now it is summer so work is not a problem and neither is school everything can be fully focused on nclex...

any other suggestions please?

anyone know about the davis book? or mosby book? or mosby flash cards? or i guess what is the best book to use???

saunders comprehensive book 3rd ed by silvestri is enough.. just study it by heart.. ask a study guide to suzzane PM her.. goodluck..

okay, so i bought the saunder's book - what about the Q & A book ?? and i emailed suzanne like 3 days ago i figured she gets alot of email has anyone on here done suzanne's study guide?

is it to basically just go through each chapter do the practice questions, then to if you get a majority of them right move on? but if you struggle review the course material or what...cuz that can be done...

or is there more to it? i'm starting on this book asap... i must say its more uhm well i think i'm an all kinda learner...ya know got to hear it, see it, listen to it, etc and with the color and charts it definately makes it a better visual learning tool than some of the other books... anyways can someone help with the above that i wrote.????

..lots of people have used saunders and passed nclex. You just have to settle down and use it and do all the chapter questions and the CD questions gradually. 100 questions /day. If you can finish all the 4000+ questions in the CD, I don't think you need an additional Q&A book from the same saunders. Some questions may even be repeated...I learnt Suzanne4 is a little busy these days so, I guess you have to wait. She'll get to you for sure.

I used saunders for my hesi exit exam and kaplan for nclex. Have no single regrets because i passed with confidence.

Just keep praticing the questions, reread things that you have trouble with and pray! Thats what I'm doing

I swear by Saunders. I just took my NCLEX 2 weeks ago and passed the first time (LPN). I set up a study schedule right after graduation. I studied 2 hrs a day. I also made a list of my strong subjects and not so strong subjects. The strong ones I just reviewed, and the weaker ones I studied. I also did all of the practice tests on the CD that came with the book. I too had a problem of misreading the questions. What I did was to slow down my reading, or go directly to the end of the question to find out what they are asking.

Good Luck!!!
