FL NCLEX... failed 3 times

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello all... Just curious if there is anyone out there that has taken the FL boards more than 3X and not passed? Has anyone decided to go out of state and then take them again? Or did you do the remediation class and then take them in Fl again?

Just trying to find out what people have done in FL. I hear there are only a couple of states that do the remediation class like FL??? VERY expensive.

Advice please!

THANKS! :nuke:

Just a word of encouragement. My study partner throughout nursing school, was probably more knowledgeable than me, yet it took him till his third try to pass (here in Fla). So don't take a fail to mean that you will not be excellent in the field. The test is not the best representation of how much you know, but more how well you test. I swear I have a lawyer buddy, that is so good at taking tests, that he would pass the nclex his first time. So take heart. Also, due to the 1000s of extra questions he practiced, he is even smarter now than when he graduated.

ive failed twice in my nclex but my bon is in CA. i was initially planning to practice in CA but decided to stay here in FL. i plan to do the endorsement of licenses from CA to FL once i pass. if by any chance i do fail my nclex and take it again will there be a problem once i pass and endorse it to FL?

CA does not have a limit on the number of times that you can test, so there should not be any issue for you.

Florida requires additional coursework if you have not passed the exam after three attempts. In oder to endorse to any state, you need to meet their requirements. If you have already tried the three times for FL and then go to another state, they are still going to be looking to see if the required coursework was completed.

Getting a license in another state and then trying to endorse it back to the original state still requires that you meet the requirements for the new state.

This is what happens in any state.

I graduated from a college in Florida but I have taken the NCLEX 3 times in Texas..since that is where I live now. Will I still need to complete remedial course? or I won't since I endorsed Texas as my resident state??

You need to take a look at what the requirements are for Texas as that is where you wish to be licensed. It never has anything to do with where you went to school, but the requirements of the specific BON where you are going to be working.

You can only endorse a license if you actually hold one in another state to begin with.

I know this might be a bit redundant but... I am currently licensed in Michigan and interested in Florida licensure. Do I need to apply for the license or is it covered by this reciprocity clause? I'm so confused! :wink2: Any help would be appreciated!

If you are planning on moving and living from one state to another then you have to endorse your license. NCLEX is reciprocity your license isn't.

Hi in Response to your question. From what I understand you have a question that should you fail Nclex 3 times and then pass lets say on 4th shot would you have a problem to endorse to FL?

The remedial classes are only required if you are applied via FL directly and failed NCLEX 3 times. Then you are required to take remedial in order to sit a 4th time for the test.

I called the Fl Board May 27th 2008 and per my conversation with the person I spoke to she said that even if a person that applied via Fl and fails three times and then goes to GA or wherever and passes that they DO NOT have to take remedial classes in FLA as once you are licensed its no longer required to do remedial.

I asked her about a doubt I had as I have understood that the FL endorsement application has a page where it specifically asks the amount of times one has taken NCLEX and she says thats more to keep track of people that are applying directly from FL that have failed the exam 3 times and would then need remedial but otherwise should you be licensed you would not be affected at all to obtain the license in FL.

Good Luck to you.
