do we really need to study?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I did excelsior college, my graduation date is 1/21 and I can make my NCLEX appointment thereafter. For my LPN boards I was off for 4 months and didnt open a book once. I have 3 cd roms installed on my laptop I just have no drive to study anymore. I have an old Kalplan a Davis, and Saxton. What does everyone recomend. Has anyone jumped into this without studying? oh and by no means am I smarter than the average bear...I pulled mostly B's in pre reqs with 2 c's, and mostly c's with 1 B in EC nursing classes

yes you still need to study. why risk it and pay another fee and wait 45 days? i did ec as well and i studied enough to make me comfortable and confident for the nclex-rn. the ec nursing exams are similar to the nclex-rn.

congrats on completing ec especially the monster cpne. you will be a registered nurse soon.

good luck,

angel

My personal opinion is that you are unlikely to have success without studying. Seems foolhardy, especially given that you already have the study materials in hand.

Only one way to find out though . . .

lol ok ok I get it!!! Thanks

Very few people can pass without studying. I would recommend it. Good luck.

Maybe it would help if you think of it as reviewing. You've already learned this stuff. Prepping for the NCLEX is just a matter of freshening it up in your brain.

You should definitely study!!

Yes, I agree with everyone else's posts - you should study. WHy risk what you can help?

I wonder how many people tried to pass without studying though! :jester:

I know some people who didn't do a lot of content review, but did a lot of practice questions.

Here's what I did to prep. It worked for me. I loaded up my Saunders NCLEX study CD for the practice tests and answered a TON of questions, always reading the rationales on the ones I got wrong or the ones I wasn't sure about. After a few tests, I found out the areas I needed to brush up on, studied those areas, then answered a ton more practice questions. Rinse and repeat. Everyone needs to study, but you need to find out your weak areas first.

Good luck. You've come this far. You'll do fine. :yeah:

No one can be totally prepared for NCLEx, but you do need to be sure that you know your content! When do you test?
