Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Per the request of janina08 ;) I've started the April NCLEX takers support group. When do you take it? What are you using to study? Would anyone like to review any of the systems/meds that he/she feels weakest on? Let's keep each other in our prayers and good thoughts as we go through one of the biggest experiences of our lives. :) :nurse:

YEAH. yellow part is cholesterol init?

Hotcmdity, I was thinking the saem thing today. I think the question pretty much asks you how it wants the answer. Round up to the nearest tenth OR round up o the nearest whle number. I think the question lays it for u how it wants to answer. Well that's what I am seeing on practice questions. NCLEX Exam hopefully will do the same. And, I answered this based on SAUNDERS practice questions.

Can someone please show rounding up to the nearest hundreth and nearest thousand? Thanks.

Nearest Tenth example would be ths:

example : answer you got calculating is 15.3567

NEArest tenth would be: 15

correct?

Now what aout nearest hundred and thousand? Somene please help. thanks

i checked the book the answer is focused on the visual stimulation...maybe because the connection between the stem and the choices, the answer regarding safety would be inapplicable since the client has unsteady gait and is confused...

I was applying maslow's. Did I read and interpreted the question completely wrong? thanks

Moments, I would focus on safety since she is consfused with an unsteady gait.... after safety issues have been resolved then you can worry about other issues.....

I would only go back to read content if there is a section that I am COMPLETELY CLUELESS ON! Otherwise, I would focus on questions, rationales and strategies.....

I am so tired of studying, I just want a vacation and a new pair of shoes! :crying2::cry::bluecry1:

Thanks Genny. HE HE so cute, you want new pair of shoes :D

And me too I'd focus on safety, bt maybe that question is focusin on somethign else, coz the answer was the sensory one.

"My Dear MomentS

I went over to that question, YES the correct answer is visual stimulation, considering the client is elderly so basically decreased visual acuity and besides it is the only option that has appropriate intervention.

The other option talks about to encourage ambulation at the hallway which is unsafe to to a patient who has unsteady gait and confusion so definitely this is wrong answer.

But if the options are sensory stimulation vs. prevention of fall and injury, i would go for the 2nd option which is safety.:sstrs::an!: "

Thank you rizapride :icon_hug:

in rounding up all i remember is if the decimal part passes 5 then its rounded up as a whole

example: 15.67= 16

15.47= 15

15.5890480= 16

doesnt matter how long the equation is is as long as i know its pass 5..

Thank you chichimichi. What if they ask you to round to nearest 100 or 1000?

What abou FAT EMBOLISM? What position would you place your patient in, if you suspect they have fat embolism.

A/C to book, it's HIGH FOWLER's? Why HIGH fowler's? Anybody know?

Q) 2. Why would someone with EDEMA take less time to CLOT?

Q) 3. In ANEMIA you see ELEVATED POTASSIUM. Why is that? What is the corelation?

Q) 4. Abou lab values. If any of you have the latest SAUNDER'S book, please check the value for serum POTASSIUM. What does it say? Is it 3.5-5.1 ?

I have the blue book and it tells me 3.5 - 5.1. Now the confusion is: Kaplan strategy book considers 3.5-5.5 as normal Serum POTASSIUM value (if I'm remember correct), while Saunder considers 5.5 as elevated. NOW, Which is the correct one for NCLEX? :banghead:

Thank u guys for taking tie to read and reply. It's helping. Good luck to us all

Rounding 1.19 to the nearest tenth gives 1.2 (1.20).

Rounding 1.545 to the nearest hundredth gives 1.55.

Rounding 0.1024 to the nearest thousandth gives 0.102.

Rounding 1.80 to the nearest one gives 2.

Rounding 4499 to the nearest thousand gives 4000.

those are just examples i can give to kinda show u.. just remember the number of zeros for 1=1 100=2 1000=3 (doesnt necessarily mean they have to be zero but numbers)

Thank you so much. That was very helpful. God bless
