2nd try and 44 SATA's later...

Nursing Students NCLEX

You read that right...44 SATA's:nailbiting::wideyed::wacky: !!! and I passed the NCLEX RN! I'm over the moon right now!

There are a lot of posts on here asking if Hurst is better than Kaplan, and what about UWORLD and Saunders and yada yada yada..Really...my opinion is that it all depends on how YOU learn and study best.

My first attempt, I used Hurst and I failed at 75 questions, miserably. Hurst did not jam with my personal study habits. I also used Kaplan tests and those are good for learning how the questions work..but I would not rely only on Kaplan. I also tried to use the Saunders book, but again...that wasn't working for me. My brain didn't like it and I was not retaining.

It was a mental game for me. I think my failure the first time wasn't that I didn't know the material, but that I psyched myself up really bad and went numb.

2nd attempt, and a much more calm woman, I succeeded. I think UWORLD was the best tool for me. I loved the detailed rationales and the abundance of SATA's really helped make me comfortable with them. Plus the layout is really similar to NCLEX so I was comfortable when the blue screen popped up. The day before the exam, I also went over the 30 page study guide that is floating around this website. At first, it was overwhelming, but once I really sat down and read through it, with the mnemonics and tricks, it's a really awesome tool. It def helped me on the exam.

If you're struggling, please find what methods work for you and try again. I was devastated when I failed the first time, but having failed once makes my success today that much more sweet!

... And considering u got 44 SATA's, you were doing well on the hardest questions. That's why u got so many!

There are easy SATA and difficult SATA just like for every other type of question. Neither type of question nor number of questions indicate pass or fail

That's not what we were told all through nursing school and Kaplan.

It's inaccurate information and an urban legend. It's detailed on the NCSBN website

@justbeachynurse well then you better go tell colleges and Kaplan to stop teaching that! 🤓[emoji107]🏽

I was trying to celebrate with you until someone had to spoil the party with their unnecessary comment. Can't join a conversation without someone fighting every word [emoji19]
