Jewish Hospital College of Nursing

U.S.A. Missouri

Published

Has anyone attended this school and if so,how did you like it. How does it rate against the other nursing schools in the St Louis area?

Thanks

Been there, done that. Jewish is a good school because of the clinical experience you get at Barnes-Jewish. Each teacher varies individually, some great some terrible. The school is part of Washington University, one of the most prestigious universities in the country. I got a strong clinical base, from which I now operate.

Specializes in oncology.

I am starting at JHC this fall and have heard nothing but good things about it. The previous post is right about the good clinicals because Barnes Jewish hospital is ranked high in the best hospitals in the US. They have a really good turnover rate also. And compared financially, to other schools the pricing is pretty good and if you work at a BJC hospital, they will pay almost half your tuition. I am really happy I am going there. I too did extensive research trying to find the BEST nursing school in st.louis, and then after weighing all my options, I decided on Jewish. Please email me with any other questions. :)

Specializes in OB/Gyn, Post Partum, Antepartum.

I attend Jewish and will be graduating in May of 2005. I will also continue my BSN there. I really like it. I agree with the other posts that the clinical rotations are good. I have had some really good professors and only a couple of crappy ones. But for the most part, my clinical instructors have all been excellent. The theory instructors are great and I have only had one that was not so great.

I think the price and the convenience of the location(for me because I live in South City) are well worth it as well. Also like some of the other posts mentioned it is part of Washington University which is very prestigous. With all of that said I think it is a great school.

Jewish College of Nursing is an excellent choice. Its now Barnes Jewish College of Nursing they recently changed the name. I am a asn student there and I love it and i'm sure u will also.

good luck :)

Specializes in private practice, corporate.

Good teachers, excellent basic education and clinicals, but beware in the master's program! I went ADN to RN-MSN the whole way thru, so have lots of experiences.

I am waiting to hear whether I have been accepted at Barnes-Jewish (my first choice school), and I really want to get in! Does anyone know about how many applicants are turned down/accepted per semester? How hard is it to get in? I check my mailbox every day for a letter from them!!

maggijo,

I applied to Jewish in August of 2003 and received my acceptance letter to start the Spring semester of 2004 in september 2003. If you have not heard back from them, I encourage you to call. I knew I was accepted because I called to see what the hold up was. They told me I had been accepted and then mailed me a letter telling me the next steps to take before classes started. I say just call them on Monday to find out.

Good Luck, I hope you get in.

I loved my clinicals at Jewish, glad I went there and feel I will be prepared to work as a nurse.

Graduate ASN 8/1/05!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!

Specializes in LTAC.

That's the same way I found out I was accepted. Try emailing from their web site. Although it has a great reputation, I'm switching to Jefferson College. I've heard nothing but good things from the students. The cost for in district is $66.00 per hour. That's about $1500 per semester opposed to over $5,000 at Jewish.

I'm in! The admissions office called yesterday to find out what semester I wanted to start. I will begin classes spring, '06. I can't wait!
