I applied to Jewish in August of 2003 and received my acceptance letter to start the Spring semester of 2004 in september 2003. If you have not heard back from them, I encourage you to call. I knew I was accepted because I called to see what the hold up was. They told me I had been accepted and then mailed me a letter telling me the next steps to take before classes started. I say just call them on Monday to find out.

I loved my clinicals at Jewish, glad I went there and feel I will be prepared to work as a nurse.

Hi I am looking forward to starting in the spring of 06 at Jewish, would you recommend any certain instructors. I will be attending the evening and weekend classes.

The NET wasn't that hard, but I definitely recommend going to the library on campus and reading the study guide. I didn't read the Study Skills section of the study guide, and I did really poorly on that section (yes, there's really a section testing you on how to take tests!). I figured I have good study skills, so I would test well on that section, but the test asked very specific questions... I still haven't figured out what kind of answers it was looking for on that section! BUT the math and reading sections are straightforward. The study guide will tell you the specific skills to brush up on. Not a really hard test, but read the study guide so you know what you can expect. Good luck!

P.S. I got an 81% overall, and I was disappointed, but I ended up being accepted to BJC. They said they were just looking for a score above the national average, which was 64%, I think. I'm sure you'll do great!

I was just wondering how long did it take for you to get your results back from the NET test? I took it about 3 weeks ago and still nothing in the mail.

It took about 3-4 weeks, so you should probably get them soon. It's hard waiting around for them. It drove me nuts. Good luck!

Is anyone currently attending Jewish? I'm waiting for my acceptance letter and was wondering how they are at giving their students money for tuition. I really can't afford to take out more student loans and know they have several merit-based scholarships. Does anyone have one? Did you get a full ride?

I went to Barnes Nursing school. I thought UMSL was the nursing school for now? Most likely you can do clinicals at Barnes through Jewish(Wash U) or UMSL. I would think UMSL would be alot cheaper than Wash U. Either way you would easily get a nursing job.

Jewish Hospital College of Nursing is now Barnes-Jewish College of Nursing. Your classes are taken in conjuction with Wash Univ. The program at UMSL no longer carries the Barnes name. The schools histories, etc were combined in Jan 05. UMSL and Barnes-Jewish come out to be about the same price as far as credit hours. This is because UMSL charges you an additional $150 (I think it is that much or more) for each class that is listed as a nursing course. This includes Anatomy and Physiology. So in addition to the charge for being an in-state student you are charged the $150 per credit hour. That ends up coming out to some serious cash.

thats awful umsl is charging that extra amount. i can see paying the higher tuition to take classes at wash u but not at umsl. how do they get away with this for in state students. it seems like they are making it harder for people to go to nursing school with the nursing shortage. since there are so many waiting lists is there going to be a nursing glut soon? the year i graduated there was.
