Hello,

I just wanted to know if anyone has finished or is the LPN program through Oakland University (Riverview Institute) I start my pre-requisites there this May and I am really excited about starting the program. I would like to know are they helpful, and I would like to know is it really stressful? Thanks so much

Hi Ivey, I'll be starting the pre-req's in May also. Which classes will you be taking? I'll be in the Math/Pharmacology on Saturday.

Hello,

I am taking all 4 so I will be in the Math and Pharmacology on Sat also! :)

Have you taken the others

OMG, we will be in the same class then. I will be taking Nutrition @ Macomb for 8 weeks online and I am taking Oaklands Anatomy in the fall along with Psy @ Macomb or Henry Ford. Have you been accepted yet? I just applied and was told they have my application and will be considered for the September 2012 class because Januarey 2012 was filled already.

Hi again

Yes we will be in the same class so nice to meet you :). Yes they said the same thing to me! But when I went to the informational which is on every 1st Tuesday of the month they said something about sometimes ppl dont make it in or have to leave! So there may be a slot :)

Right providing you have your funds, lol! I went the informational meeting the first of this month. Well good luck, hopefully we'll get a slot in January. I'll look for you in class on the 8th. Is Ivey your real name? Sirena is mine!

O, and I bought my books already, got them on Ebay for under $50. Their books are too high!

My real name is Ivana

And yes I will see you in class on the 8th :). And yes I ordered my books on Amazon. Their books are high

Ok Ivey I got my acceptance email today for September 2012!:yeah: Have you heard anything yet?

Congratulations ladies!.:yeah:..I have a question, I plan on moving from Grand Rapids, MI to the surrounding Detroit area and I've been interested in this school for a few months and I plan on applying in June/July. If you ladies don't mind sharing, what were some of the highlights of why you were picked at Oakland Univ. Currently Im taking classes at the local community college here in GR to boost my GPA up my chances to get it would be a little better. If I applied in June or July, do you think they would push me to the Jan 2013 program?...to be accepted is an honor but I just don't wanna wait too long. Thanks in advance!

Hey Sunflower, thx! I'm excited and I applied the first or second week in April. They said it took 30 days to get back with you, but it was only 2 weeks. I went to a information session and the lady went through everything with us and took us on a tour. What was most discourging for people was that Oakland wants you to have your money when its time for class to start, at least $6000 of the $8900. She also said that you had to have the pre-reqs completed which is listed on the link I will give you. The January class was full which left Sept 2012 but she also said that you can get bumped up if some people aren't prepared and don't have their funding. Here is the link, its pretty straight forward and if you can come to one of the informational sessions it should be most helpful and you can ask all the questions you want.

P.S. I had my whole application complete with everything they asked for.

Wow!...6000.00?!?!...well i better get to saving more..I have only 3000.00 to pay towards the program..hopefully the NWLB program would have some avaliable funds here in Grand Rapids...and that does make sense that people could get bumped and that will allow some extra slots. Thank you so much for the info, I will look into this more and start from there and will also keep you guys posted!!!! :D
