I just wanted to know if anyone has finished or is the LPN program through Oakland University (Riverview Institute) I start my pre-requisites there this May and I am really excited about starting the program. I would like to know are they helpful, and I would like to know is it really stressful? Thanks so much

I just read through you all's post I am new to the rn/lpn world and looking to go all the way. I am currently enrolled at Davenport, but not sure if i am going to stay. I am taking my pre-reqs for there LPN program now, but I am not sure if i will get in for fall 2012 b/c of my science, do you have to have them all before you apply to Oakland or can you apply and still be taking pre-reqs? Also, as far as for paying do they take financial aid or is out of pocket only? Any other feedback about the program would be great as well!

Hello, You can apply to the Riverview Institute (oakland Univ) program and be taking the pre reqs! You have to take Math and Pharm there or they wont except it! They DONT EXCEPT FINANCIAL AID!!! And its a very intense program! But jus like any other program youre going to work hard! They expect us to do GREAT so they have high standards for us! I hope everything works out for you! Thank you for the information.. I am currently enrolled at Davenport, but I have to have all these classes complete before I can apply and this seems more like a direct entry program, even though I still would have to apply and be accepted I am going to look more into it.

hello everyone, i just got accepted into the jan 2013 class. i have 2 take 3 pre-reqs bcuz 2 was outdated nutrition n science and of course their pharmocology.......i was told i may get bumped 2 the sept. 2012 class n praying that i do........also have any1 payed for their classes with funding from the taa program?? and how are the pre-req classes??

Wow!...6000.00?!?!.:eek:..well i better get to saving more..I have only 3000.00 to pay towards the program..hopefully the NWLB program would have some avaliable funds here in Grand Rapids...and that does make sense that people could get bumped and that will allow some extra slots. Um, good luck with NWLB, most funding has run out. I did manage to get mine but it really was like pulling teeth. OU's program is the most reasonable that I've come across so I hope that you can make

it happen any which way you can.

How do you have to pay for the classes? can you pay 750 every month instead of the lump sum?

After 6 days, I got a email letting me know that they received my packet, and a week later they invited me to a review/ advising day. Now their waiting to retrieve my ACT results ( which I have anxiety about) so I should know something by early next week. Do anyone know if its still room for the Sept. cohert? I'm praying that I get in!

Im in Math and Pharm right now and the teacher said that the September cohort is pretty much full now. We have a large class for Math and Pharm (about 45 students) and the majority of the students in the class is looking to start in September. However, the course is really difficult and per the teacher, by the 4th or 5th week half of the class will be depleted. You have to get at least an 80% or better to successfully pass the course and MOST people are not going to be willing to put the time and effort in to receive that grade; plus the class is not a walk in the park at all. We'll see how it goes. I received my acceptance letter already and was told that as long as I pass this last course with a B or better I am all set to start in September. With that being said, Im definitely starting in September because I am about to pass this course. I got an 86% on the first exam so as long as I keep that going I will be just fine. Good Luck to everyone who is trying to get in. We will ALL make it!!!! I will check back periodically to give updates.
