Is there a good way to incorporate a tie with scrubs? I've been wearing scrubs for all of my adult life and I really hate them. I am really a fan of the tunic/smock style that male nurses in the UK wear and I saw at least one person rock the tunic with a bowtie while I was there. What do you guys think?

I admit the tunic does look better then a standard v neck top but I don't think you could rock the bow tie with it, maybe around Halloween or doctor who events other then that naw man, I am with you been wearing scrubs for a long time the only time I wear a tie is when I am teaching class.

I really like the idea of a collered tunic for male nurses, as I never liked the look of men wearing plunging v-neck scrub tops. But I'm at a loss as to why you'd want to wear a bow tie..... unless you want to be like a nurse version of Patch Adams from that Robin Williams movie.

Classic! LOL!

I think the standard V-neck looks better if it's worn with a T shirt underneath. I'm not a fan of seeing a hairy chest poking out from the V-neck. (We are talking about guys here; I've yet to see this be a problem with women, although I'm sure there are few outliers here and there.)

That tunic/smock thing looks neat, but I would be way too hot for something like that. I need some airflow.

Hey Friends! Student Nurse here...our profs chose WHITE pants...such a flattering look, especially on our fuller figured friends--yeah right! Not to mention how shear they are. I heard a rumor someone makes non-see-thru white pants, if anyone knows where to buy these, please post.

I Love the Tunic as I ABSOLUTELY ABHOR SCRUBS for daily wear. I believe scrubs are for medical procedures only!

I would happily wear khakis and polos or pants and button up shirts over scrubs any day of the week. I think public perception of nurses is weak, and I think a lot of it has to do with the sloppy scrubs so many are wearing. Yes scrubs are cheap, and they look cheap too. Plus the fact that it is near impossible for the public to distinguish who on earth the Nurse is when the dress code for EVERY department of a hospital or clinic is wearing scrubs!

Go for it if it suits you. Personally is not for me...

They say doctors and those in the medical field should not wear ties because they don't get washed and harbor a ton of bacteria.

sorry, but the smock looks like Dr. Evil's smock in Austin Powers. You should probably check with your dress code policy about the tie- we have a very particular dress code and cannot even have colored piping on the scrubs.

Bahahaha that was awesome.

I usually just wear a pocket T with scrub pants...I'd prefer to wear polo shirt with cargo pants...that tunic looks like a denist

G86_Male_NUrse_Tunic.jpgThis is what a male nurse's tunic shirt looks like. Like I said, I like the collar. And the "old school orderly" lapel thingie. I'm strongly considering ordering one or two of these....

I like this look, but everytime I see a shirt like that, I think about the psych ward...am I the only one?

Yeah, I think it's because all those orderlies in the movies wore tunics like that. You know, in the movies where all the orderly guys tackle the crazy psych pt long enough for the nurse to give him a shot. Another reason for male nurses to wear them. God knows patients these days could use a healthy dose of intimidation, even if it's only subconscious..... "uh oh, this guys's gonna take me down if I don't chill out"....
