Congrats on becoming certified! I am seriously considering taking the CMSRN. How did you study? Did you use the Medical Surgical Nursing Review Questions 3rd edition by Dottie Roberts? I am considering buying this book. I looked online for a used one and couldn't find one.

I have been considering taking this exam for the last 3 years. I have my review books, and the CDs and DVD's...I just don't know if it is worth it other than personal pride. Any thoughts from the group? I need to make up my mind and poop or get off the pot. Any thoughts? I have 13 years MS experience. I am hungry for education but my life is to full for formal education online or otherwise...would this be a good way to scratch that itch?

so i work in med surge, currently in a new grad training program. So this may be a dumb ?. buuuut why do you need the certification? is it required by most facilities to be in that specialty? higher pay if you have it? looks good on a resume?

Actually, it was a personal goal and shows that you take pride in your speciality and that you are knowledgable in your practice. You need at least a minimum of two years experience before you can even apply to sit for the exam. It's a commitment to life-long learning of your specialty as long as you keep your certification active. Check out AMSN for more info

I just submitted my application online. I was wondering how long it took you to receive the permit to test after applying? I had no idea it would be 6-8 weeks. I've been studying for months and am getting a little restless.

1.00 an hour, looks good on the resume and ASMN had free contact hours and a really cool magazine.
