Got chewed out royally by a doc in front of a patient and his family for something I didn't do, a scene so vile the family reported it to the supervisor on my behalf. Waited over two hours for a stat chest x-ray. Went home following a 12 hour midnight shift to find feces all over my shoelaces. The next night I gave my notice, finished my two weeks and walked out the door on a June night in 1996. Never looked back. Until now.

I admire you guys. I just couldn't hack it.

Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork.....did I mention paperwork?

Oh, and some patient care between the flow sheets....sheesh.

I don't always love my job.

But I always love getting yelled at by an MD.

And I get to go back tomorrow!

1 sick pt w/ massive MI, coded p cath (troponin now=300!!!). Not a surgical candidate. Intubated, propofol, balloon pump, swan ganz, levophed + dobutamine + lidocaine + nitroglycerine - titrating all to get the numbers i want. Creatinine = 5.0 ;continuous dialysis (CRRT) soon. Echo= EF 13%. Family blissfully clueless. Prognosis = :o

CABG POD3 unmotivated smoker, CP R/O great sense of humor, young tachy woman, and a very confused, combative, screaming lady who I eventually had to restrain physically and chemically. Spent most of shift in her room alone. Thank goodness my other three were relatively 'easy.'

I love it when I can't understand the initials :rotfl:

I can't wait to start nursing school :)

OMG! Toof funny!! I was thinking that almost verbatim when I read your post. So glad I'm not alone.

Third night of 12hr weekend. Started out with 9 pts. Got 2 admissions. One aide to help. Platelets infusing. Low Blood sugar - 2amps d50. Possible TIA. Foreign Body obstruction (piece of chicken). Two confused little ladies with TINY bladders asking "Is it hard to get a job here when the tourists leave?".

I'm charge (with 1 1/2yrs experience). LOADS OF FUN!:monkeydance:
