STCC 2010?

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Hello Everyone: I am new to this site and was wondering if anyone on here has any advice on being accepted into the STCC Nursing Program. I will be applying to the program for the fall of 2010. I am taking the pre-reqs now, but have a question regarding the HESI. Does the exam cover chemistry and physics in addition to A&P, Bio, Math, and English? I have the exam book and have been studying but wanted to make sure I study the correct subjects. Any advice would be great! Thank you.

Its going really well for me, I absolutely love it. Several people have failed out though.. we started the fall semester with 105 and we started the spring semester with 83.

I was wondering the same thing about the acceptance letters...I thought they were going to be sent out around the middle of April but if they come at the beginning even better! I am anxiously waiting...although I got into another program I still want to consider STCC.

Mind if I ask where you got accepted? Sounds like they have already started to send out letters there. Are you a traditional student or returning student? I guess most people have applied to multiple schools like us.

I applied to multiple schools and got into AIC so far. I haven't heard from

any of the others yet. I am not a traditional student as I already have a bachelors degree and decided to go back. I hope to hear soon and figure out my plans for the fall. Good luck with your applications!

The letters should be going out in mid April, that what I was told in Admissions office.

Also, was wondering if students from the program can give us any suggestions or advices on what can we do over the summer that would be beneficial for the start. I would love to start reading earlier, if only I would know what.......Any advice or suggestion would be appreciated. :tku:

Congradulations to all nursing students! and good luck to future ones!

Nata, you will have an orientation over the summer where they will give you the reading list for the first 2 weeks of school. Make sure you read it ALL.. its A LOT, and if you try to read it after school starts, you will be entirely too overwhelmed.

Get a nursing test success book if you can stand reading such dry material.. it will help get you familiar with the type of questions on the exams, which aren't like normal test questions.. they are NCLEX style, of course.

other than that, don't worry about trying to brush up on A&P, meds, etc-- they will teach you all you need to know during the semesters.. and if you try to learn it ahead of time it probably won't make as much sense (:

most importantly, enjoy your summer as much as you can, because you won't have much of a life for the next two years =P

Hi! I am new to this site. I also applied at STCC and waiting for acceptance. So far I have been accepted at AIC but would rather prefer an associate from STCC and the 1 year RN to BSN program from STCC to UMASS. AIC is also like 3 times more expensive than STCC. I am a returning student and changing my major. Right now I am haunted by 1 C+ and couple of B's. Other than that I have all A s. I scored 92% in HESI though and that is what I am hanging on. Fingers crossed... I was reading the other posts and looks like last two years they sent out the letters early April. Good luck to everybody!!!!!!

Thank you so much, bananimal. You have cleared up a lot, as I was reading in other posts that there is TONS of reading involved. It is good that they will give us reading material earlier. Well I am gonna relax now a little bit:), and hope that I will get into the program. Thanks again.

To be honest, most of the students don't do the readings, they don't find there is enough time. The first semester, first exam, I read everything. The second exam I read about half. And the third exam I didn't read ANYTHING. I got the same score (plus or minus a point or two) for all the exams. Pretty much everything you need to know/everything on the exams are going to be directly from the lectures. If you study them you can't really go wrong. I just find that reading reinforces everything they are teaching, and it certainly can't hurt.

I have been checking web advisor everyday and today under "my profile" my academic program has changed to "NURSING" from "CSCI" (I applied for a change of major ). Does that mean I have been accepted in the program or is it just showing my intended major? Has anyone checked their profile in web advisor yet? Any thoughts?

I have noticed that to! I feel the same way, I don't know if I should believe it or not lol. I havn't recieved an acceptance letter yet but admissions told me they would hopefully be sent out this week!

Last year some girls in my A&P class that had applied for 2009 said that theres had changed automatically on webadvisor the day letters got sent out.
