Hello everyone! I may be a little early with this, but here's a new post for all of you hoping to apply this September 2nd for the Spring 2015 semester at UMSON. You can post questions you have, helpful advice you would like to give (if you're already in the program), etc.

I specifically have a question for those who have already applied to the Spring 2014 semester and got in. When you applied last September, when in November did you get your acceptance letter in the mail? Was it the beginning, middle, or toward the end of November? I'm asking this because the other nursing school I am applying to only gives a 3-week time period after the end of October (when they let you know if you made it in or not) to accept or decline enrollment. So, if I don't make it into UMSON, I'd want to be able to give this other nursing school an answer before the 3-week time period runs out.

This is my 3rd time around. I was provisionally admitted for spring 2014, but botched the math requirement. Was waitlisted for fall 2014. Applying for spring 2015. Once you see your materials are in, and are complete, ready for review and/or committee ready, don't even bother checking until mid-November, at the earliest! It's all just a waiting game now. Focus on something else or you will drive yourself crazy!

Did your application rollover or they made you re-submit?

happymochi, welcome back to the thread! :) Complete and Ready to Review for me as well, so like usedtobecool84 I hope to see you all! And I agree with afowler77... not logging on to SURFS until November.

thank you, littlemango! always a pleasure to hear from you! :) you know, what's interesting is that I asked the admissions office (via email) when I should expect to hear back... and they said mid-October. i suppose i'll be checking then? but the waiting game is killing me already! haha. who is applying to what campus? i applied to the baltimore one.

did anyone who lives in Maryland have to fill out the Application for In-State status? I don't remember having to fill this out last semester when I applied.

Oh! October? Hmm... Perhaps this is because in the previous year (Spring '14) the deadline was moved back to September 15th? The prospectives started hearing back from admissions the very beginning of November. That's awesome that you asked though, happymochi, thanks for letting us know! :cat: I'm going for the Shady Grove campus just because I'm more familiar with the area compared to Baltimore's campus.

katiep_123, I'm not sure if they absolutely require it for the application, as it didn't have its own spot under Requirements in the application summary provided on SURFS. However, I did send it in just in case because I absolutely want to make sure I'm considered for in-state tuition!

Hi everyone! This is my second time applying since I didn't get in for the Fall 2014. I re-took my TEAS test yesterday and I got a better score this time so I am hoping it will help me at least get wait-listed. I see a few familiar faces!

I will be taking classes online. However, I may be on the Baltimore campus.

katiep_123 great job on the TEAS! Welcome to the thread by the way

bcandygurl is the RN-BSN program specifically online or can you also take classes on campus in Baltimore?

You have the option to do it online, hybrid, or brick and mortar.

From my reading of the "How to Apply" section of the website, you had to fill out the form to get in-state tuition. It's probably not a big deal if that got in a bit past the deadline, since it's not really relevant unless you get in. I sent it in, since I definitely want in state tuition.

Some states give preference to in-state applicants. I don't know if MD does this, but they could do this based on the address on your application if the form wasn't in by the deadline.

Does anyone have information on the financial aid process? And have any idea how much support they typically award their students ?
