Hello everyone! I may be a little early with this, but here's a new post for all of you hoping to apply this September 2nd for the Spring 2015 semester at UMSON. You can post questions you have, helpful advice you would like to give (if you're already in the program), etc.
I specifically have a question for those who have already applied to the Spring 2014 semester and got in. When you applied last September, when in November did you get your acceptance letter in the mail? Was it the beginning, middle, or toward the end of November? I'm asking this because the other nursing school I am applying to only gives a 3-week time period after the end of October (when they let you know if you made it in or not) to accept or decline enrollment. So, if I don't make it into UMSON, I'd want to be able to give this other nursing school an answer before the 3-week time period runs out.
Hello all, I too am applying to UMSON for the Spring 2015 semester. I have seriously fallen behind in my application with a busy summer of moving and classes so I am still working. I know I am a little insane but I still have to take me TEAS test, and have never before. I am very nervous, but need a stellar grade. I am not a shoe in by far but am hoping for the best. I also still will be finishing up classes in the fall. Good luck to everyone and I look forward to speaking with you over the next couple months.
Hi, I also apply for Spring 2015 Traditional BSN. I completed all materials except for one college transcript.
It is a foreign transcript. I didn't use that credits to apply. But UMSON just requests for evaluation of that transcript.
The problem is that the school didn't open in summer until Sept 2. It is just the deadline of UMSON application.
I contacted with that school's adviser through private phone number. She also told me that she only can help me until the school open.
I almost freak out about this issue.
What if I am late to hand in the evaluation of the transcript?
I only have this time to apply for UMSON.
Hey everyone! I applied to UMSON at the Shady Grove campus for the fall 2014 semester, but unfortunately, I was wait listed and did not gain admittance. I have opted to be considered for the spring 2015 semester and I am hoping for the best! However, I'm not sure if I should apply to the Baltimore campus this time around or if I should stick to Shady Grove. I emailed Admissions and was told 80 students are accepted to Baltimore, and 40 students are accepted to Shady Grove. Does anyone know how many students apply to each location? I'm unsure of what I should do, so any advice would help. Thanks :)
From all the stalking I did on past year's forums and attending the August open house at Shady Grove, they're insistent that both campuses are equally easy (difficult?) to get in to. If you got wait listed last year, you probably have a pretty good chance of getting in this year, I'd think, since you were right on the borderline and have probably done something in the meantime to strengthen your application. I'd just apply to whichever campus is the easier commute.
I applied to Shady Grove too - maybe we'll be classmates.
I wish I had realized that I could submit an application and send the essay part in separately prior to the open house. They've been adding my transcripts and other documents super quickly, but my recommenders sent their letters far in advance, and the admissions folks haven't added them to my list of documents. I hate to be a bug, but I guess I'll have to call them tomorrow. If my letter writers have to resend anything, I want them to have a weeks notice.
It's so stressful having everything online instantly! When I applied for my original BA 12 years ago, you just had everything sent in and waited for that letter in the mail - no compulsive checking.

Thanks guys!
I ended up getting an 83%. Did well on the Reading, Science, and Eng & Lang Usage, but not so well on the Math so that brought it down. The Math section seemed harder on the actual test than on the online practice tests. Anyway, I'm not complaining! 93rd percentile in the nation! Woohoo!
And now, we wait.
