Hello all, I am in my final semester and have to do an interview assignment for a leadership course. Unfortunately, I do not currently work in the field so it makes it difficult to find my own interviewees.... I need 1 identified nurse leader and 1 nurse manager to please answer these same provided questions in an interview style, no personal information will be shared, only response content. (You can just list 1,2,3, ect.) I would really appreciate the help and look forward to comparing these two important sides to nursing. Hello, I don't know anything about the Frostberg program, what confuses me first is that I took 7 credits at CCBC not 8, 4 at Towosn, and chose to take a 1 credit course at Towson, since I needed it anyways, to add up to 12 credits. Even if you taking 8 at CCBC, you must be taking something at Frostberg which should be added with the credits your taking at CCBC In the Towson program, ALL of your financial aid goes through Towson, you no longer can get any scholarships or anything from CCBC itself. What Towson does is register you for the credits you will be taking there, then also register you for these "Dummy Credits/Placement Credits" which account for the credits you are taking at CCBC. And Towson will be the one distributing your aid. You pay for the courses at Towson only at the time, then get your reimbursement check in mail/direct deposit, and go and pay your CCBC tuition at CCBC, by now the semester has already started. I hope that all make sense, just let me know. You should be able to receive aid based on the total credits you are taking in the Nursing program, not just at one school. I am on full financial aid, so before my semester started I was on the phone will the financial aid people at Towson for over an hour, a special person for the ATB program because nobody else knew what you were talking about, so she could explain everything to me. So if you have any questions or concerns, or want to see if you have any options I would start calling the people they said were in charge of these things. When I applied I did not have choices, there was only Towson, but I do like the Towson program and teachers so far. I have no idea if the program would be exactly the same with another university, but it should be similar because they still have to work around the CCBC schedule. With the labs, they will give you a paper, and calendar. Lab A is earlier on Thurs like 8am, B is a little later like mid morning on Thurs like 11am. C and D are on Fridays just the same. Sometimes in the longer Labs both A and B will be together during both times. What I mean is if you absolutely want/need a certain one due to preference or work/kids, I would register as soon as you can. Thursday filled up much faster than Friday.

Sorry my post keep coming out soo long, I just remember wanting to know every little thing before I started my semester.

Again its all jumbled up. You don't get to choose any classes. But now we (everyone) will have 1 class with clinical starting the first week for 8 weeks- Concepts 1. Then half of the class takes either maternal newborn or pediatrics for the remaining 6 weeks of the semester. In another future semester they will switch. Right now we only know our schedule for the first course, and know nothing for the 6 weeks after that which sucks. With ATB you can just take the other 2 electives you need during that summer, and you actually wont be going back to Towson until your last semester because the other required course from Towson are online during Winter and Summer. Oh yeah, also adding that 1 credit course to your first semester puts you to full time status so you get more financial aid, if you receive that, and you can push one of your electives off to the next semester to be fulltime. Another thing that will eat up some of your time is Open Labs which are not included in the given times, its just when you go practice skills for your simulations. A big hint if you want to control your lab group for the first 6 weeks of the first semester. During orientation, or whenever they give you the website to sign up for A,B,C or D lab, do it RIGHT away, on your phone anything. Literally we took a break during orientation and the best spots were already filled.

I would generally say there are 3 I guess phases through the semester, what stays the same is you lecture days and time Mon-Wed. Thurs and Fri is what changes, atleast this is how it work last semester. I hope I remember everything correctly but... Mon- Fundamental 8-11, Nurse Professional 1100-1200 Tues- Health Assessment at Towson 8-2...At CCBC (not ATB) they also had Health Assessment on Tues, but the day was shorter as its less credits. Wed- Fundamentals 8-11 Thurs or Fri for about first 6 weeks you will have a lab, you sign up for either Thurs or Fri, some days are short like 2hrs, others longer to 5hrs, so you will have 1 day off during this time. After first 6 weeks you have Clinical on both Thurs and Fri 7 am-11am (4Days) Long term care then 1 week of lab again Then have Clinical both Thurs and Fri 7 am- 2:30 (6 days) Acute care Last week is Simulation testing, then next week is finals P.S. if you make it into the ATB program you are required to take 3 elective courses at Towson throughout your semesters, equaling 7-9 credits. If offered again like last semester, I HIGHLY recommend taking the 1 credit Emergency Nursing class during your first semester. If you do this, you will only have to take 2 more classes, and apparently there is little to no chance of being offered another 1 credit course, you would just have to take 3 3credit courses. The class was incredibly easy but it was Tues 3-4pm then, so you were at Towson from 8am-4pm, BUT half of the classes were online anyways so you didn't have to go, all quizzes were open book online, and no real final. Don't let it being your first semester freak you out, many are regretting not taking that course now because they have to fit in a harder 3 credit class during a harder semester. I hope that makes sense. Of course you have heard, but absolutely yes you will have to devote a lot of time for studying too, you will always be having exams for 1 of your 3 classes. Some people were able to work, but don't over do it by any means. I think a lot said they would get a CNA position after the first semester and haven't said anything about it since. Good luck!

We technical had lectures classes 3 days a week, Fundamentals Mon Wed, Health assessment Tues, and the one credit nurse professionalism class on Mon after Fundamentals. Thurs and/or Fri you would have lab, then later on clinical. As someone else said if there's was days missed due to things like weather, you may have to make up time in lectures and stay after an exam, but either way on Mondays you would have to stay anyways until the 1 credit lass began. I took the Nurse Assessment course (the one only on Tuesdays for CCBC also) at Towson, and we did continue lecture and a lab after an exam. I assume they would o the same at CCBC as here was a lab every week after each lecture I hope I explained it well. The overall key is things can and will change throughout the semester and at times you never know when, so I would never always count on one thing.

Also, I am not sure if this is included in the info for the Bridge program, but you had to complete 3 extra courses, Chemistry, Nutrition, and Statistics to be eligible. But if you were already applying to a BSN program, you probably already have them done.

I got my seat Fee!!! for Catonsville day....I am interested in the bridge program too but as far as I know they come to you about it, you can't actually apply for it, and yes it's 25 students, but that is actually split between both the Catonsville and Essex campuses, so not that many at all...I am so excited!!

I am hoping, I looked at the Spring 2014, and they found out on the equivalent of this Friday. It is so nerve racking, but I am glad someone made this page. I had been reading the others for practically years now and finally get to experience the craziness myself!

Hello all, I also applied for the Spring 2015 semester, but for the Catonsville Day program. I just looked after a while today and saw it said decision made too. My heart jumped, I was not expecting that, but I do not see a seat fee as of yet either. So everyone is thinking we may here an actual decsion by the end of this week? That would be amazing!!! Hello all, I too am applying to UMSON for the Spring 2015 semester. I have seriously fallen behind in my application with a busy summer of moving and classes so I am still working. I know I am a little insane but I still have to take me TEAS test, and have never before. I am very nervous, but need a stellar grade. I am not a shoe in by far but am hoping for the best. Hello everyone, first I just want to say goodluck to everyone in getting into the program! I am another year away to applying into the program, but still very excited. I wanted to know if anyone is willing to give out their GPA's or any other helpful information because I am afraid that it will just be a joke for me to apply for this particular program. I am currently going to CCBC and have a 3.2... but have 8 more classes to take and currently in two. So I know I can raise it but don't really know how much until its all done and over with. I have had my CNA for 5 years and some work experience at Bayview, and a very partime at home care postion and also planned on volunteering a little. Sorry for being so off topic, I am just trying to be as prepared as possible. I would really appreciate any input, maybe from someone in the same boat, anything.
