i'll be starting nursing school this august and we are required to wear all white, and of course, white shoes. i'm a darker colored clothing type of dude and i especially don't wear white shoes, so i'm

- May 13, '12 by eatmysoxRNSo I'm not a guy, but I hated wearing white during nursing school. In the real world, I wear black 95% of the time. So I feel your pain.
Anyways, shoe wise, your school will be fairly specific. Probably require white, all leather. No clogs... you are very limited.
How do you feel about converse shoes? You'd need to make sure they are okay with your school, but these are okay : http://m.zappos.com/converse-chuck-t...ite-monochrome
And congrats on starting nursing school! - May 13, '12 by loriangel14Usually clinical sites specify what shoes are acceptable. Any place I have ever been they require white shoes. i work with male nurses and they wear white shoes.

thanks, i can't wait! i'd definitely rock a pair of connies. i didn't realize they may have to be leather, so i guess i'll just wait to see what they want at orientation so i don't have to double buy.eatmysoxRN likes this. - norcalsurfer77 likes this.
- May 14, '12 by freeornearlyI agree with puravidaLV. Just make sure they don't have holes in the toes. That's a pretty standard for all nursing shoes.
- May 14, '12 by Ashley, PICU RNMy school was pretty specific about the uniform and shoes in our student handbook (our hair bands were supposed to match the school colors. Come on!) but in reality, no one every really checked. I wore K-Swiss walking shoes that were white with a blue logo and New Balance shoes that were white and grey, and no one every said anything to me about them being all white.
Also, whatever you decide to buy- don't spend too much. I guarantee you'll buy new shoes before you start your actual nursing job. -
- May 15, '12 by KiwiguyAs a Nurse and especially as a student you are going to be on your feet alot! buy comfortable shoes, mine are leather and have an air cushion for comfort, i got them on sale too. Buy something classy that you can wear outside of school eg when you go to the clubs/ on dates.
