Uniforms...

How do you fellah's like your uniforms? Mine are solid white with 2 purple stripes on the sleeves, the labcoat makes me feel like I'll intimidate,I hope that portion is not required for me to wear, but the shirt/jacket thing is sooo itchy. What about your guys's? Pretty similar to mine? Or are you blessed enough to wear scrubs? Scrubs seem like such a reward that it's motivation enough to graduate school, they can have the sign on bonuses, just let me wear scrubs lol.

Our school **used** to have the white uniform thing going, despite the fact that 99% of nurses wear scrubs to work. It was this horrible bandmaster poplin and the guys looked like **orderlies** in this dorky zip up shirt. We all hated 'em. So myself and another **nontraditional** student took it upon ourselves to do the run against faculty for a uniform change. We both have worked in corporate jobs previous to nursing school so we took that experience and used it, baby! We now have red scrub tops, black scrub pants and an optional white scrub jacket (the white jacket was my idea - it's the power suit of the clinical world). We bought the uniforms, pressed 'em and modeled 'em at the faculty meeting where we did our presentation. I think the selling point was when I mentioned "everyone's butt looks good in black pants-- look around the room" and of course, all our faculty were wearing black pants. So this semester we start with our new scrubs, and the rest of the nursing school will be bowing with gratitude to me and my friend when we come down the hallway. We did what they said couldn't be done!

Some of you sound very lucky. We are stuck with white slack style pants and light blue polo shirts. They also want us to wear this navy blue jacket but they don't make any bigger than a large which has elastic cuffs and cuts off my circulation. It could be worse, some of the students in the same hospitals have to wear this white and pea green combonation, absolutly horrid.

I feel lucky ... White scrub top with nice embroidered school name and logo. Navy blue scrub pants and white nursing or athletic shoes. We have nice embroidered lab coats for clinical and community education.

I really disliked the labcoat. Very uncomfortable.

We had white scrubs with a patch on our (L) shoulder :)

Specializes in Cardiac Care.

We're navy blue scrubs w/ white shoes. And a white lab coat.

Specializes in Emergency Care.

My uniform is white pants that have an elastic waste, a purple polo and short lab coat.

Ya not the best choice of color and not while you are in L&D.

Specializes in Ortho, Neuro, Detox, Tele.

Ours are all white, with the weird fitting zip top button vest we HAVE to wear over it, scrub pants, and a overtight lab coat with TIGHT TIGHT cuffs. At least we don't wear the lab coat while giving care, it's mainly our only requirement if we're cold, OR if we going into the clinical site to research patients, (can't wear jeans to clinical sites to research? What the heck?) I understand looking professional, but I'm wearing my student nametag, wearing a long lab coat that no one else is said building wears....GEEZ....

i wear a white on white uniform, with two red and white patches on my left sleeve. white on white people!

oh well, you do what you've got to do.

Specializes in Med-Surg.

White pants, white, top, white lab coat with the college name in teal.

I feel like an icecream man.. At least I don't have to wear a hat like the ladies.

Specializes in General Med.

our uniforms in New Zealand are navy pants and we have the option of a t-shirt (light blue), a shirt (looks far too formal) same colour, or a blue scrub top, i chose the scrub top, so cool!
