Uniforms...

How do you fellah's like your uniforms? Mine are solid white with 2 purple stripes on the sleeves, the labcoat makes me feel like I'll intimidate,I hope that portion is not required for me to wear, but the shirt/jacket thing is sooo itchy. What about your guys's? Pretty similar to mine? Or are you blessed enough to wear scrubs? Scrubs seem like such a reward that it's motivation enough to graduate school, they can have the sign on bonuses, just let me wear scrubs lol.

Nope definately not scrubs dude, like white dress pants, and a zippered polo shirt with this tail thing in the back down to my butt, its so stiff and itchy. Also, thank god for under armor compression shorts I have from baseball, or else they'd play a nice fun game of "guess the color of Mikes fruit of the looms";) since the pants are a lil too see thru...

haha suck for your bro, we had ceil blue scrubs and now that im a nurse i dont think i will ever wear that color again.

When I took my son to the ER last year there was a nurse that had on black scrubs, black stethescope and I think black shoes. Kinda had the whole ninja/commando look going on. I thought it was boss.

Navy scrub pants and white polo top. White lab coat, but it's not required you wear it.

I feel rather indifferent about the uniform.

Black scrubs? haha

Do you guys know Dr. Rey on the reality show Dr. 90210? He always wears the black scrubs, black sleeveless tops and black pants. I thought it looked kinda cool. hehe

Hahhhh!

When I was in school us guys wore some nasty itchy blu-ish top built like a dress shirt and suitcoat in one ( stiff ozford collar, zipper in the front with a flap in the back) And the WHITE PANTS!!!! GAAAAAAA!!! My best friend and I used to purposely wear something outrageous like red heart boxers just to freak the teachers out, and get them to change the uniform. Oh yeah, and all-white non sneaker, non athletic shoes. (incredibly hard to find, unless you "love" wearing nursemates!!

I now wear all black (or black/white) scrubs where I work in a 80 bed level I Trauma ER.

It definitely hides the charcoal splatter! jk**

Like you, I looked forward more to blending in and wearing scrubs than the bonus!

My nursing courses start at the end of this month. Our uniform is burgundy scrubs and a white lab coat----I just cant find the right shoes.

Ours are navy blue polo shirt, white pants w/ drawstring and cargo pockets, short white lab coat. The mens' pants are pretty opaque, so the female students are buying them now. The lab coat is a little weird, because it has no lapels like the med students do, but it is bloody useful with all the pockets. All the things I used to forget to bring into a client's room (especially when an instructor was with me) now have a happy home in my lab coat pockets, along with food, RN Notes, assessment book, pt sheets, candy to bribe nurses, etc.

Steve, in my senior year now

Hello,

New here, just finished and take my NCLEX-PN on 8-24. I went to NC to visit family and the topic of male scrubs came up. I talked my sister into making me some scrubs with NASCAR, FOOTBALL, TOOLS anything that has no flowers LOL. WHY is it that we can't find anything like this? I left her my teal uniform top as a pattern.

Our school **used** to have the white uniform thing going, despite the fact that 99% of nurses wear scrubs to work. It was this horrible bandmaster poplin and the guys looked like **orderlies** in this dorky zip up shirt. We all hated 'em. So myself and another **nontraditional** student took it upon ourselves to do the run against faculty for a uniform change. We both have worked in corporate jobs previous to nursing school so we took that experience and used it, baby! We now have red scrub tops, black scrub pants and an optional white scrub jacket (the white jacket was my idea - it's the power suit of the clinical world). We bought the uniforms, pressed 'em and modeled 'em at the faculty meeting where we did our presentation. I think the selling point was when I mentioned "everyone's butt looks good in black pants-- look around the room" and of course, all our faculty were wearing black pants. So this semester we start with our new scrubs, and the rest of the nursing school will be bowing with gratitude to me and my friend when we come down the hallway. We did what they said couldn't be done!
