brother, i'll be applying next year after i get my BS in bio.

shoulda seen the look on my mother's face when i first told her i wanted to be a nurse lol. my culture pretty much sees nurses as a predominately female position. she always said that i should be a doctor or an engineer, but when you are choosing your career you should follow your heart.

it was mostly my mom that cared about the whole male nursing thing. my dad thinks its cool

Thumbs up Re: Muslim Male (Student) Nurses? Any out there?
I do not know of any Muslim students in my program, but I certainly wish that I did. I love to learn about other cultures, and such knowledge is beyond value in our chosen profession.

As a Jewish nursing student, I have had many opportunities to teach my fellows as well as learn from them. I hope that you remain encouraged to continue, as you will be a tremendous asset to our profession. The media hasn't done either of our peoples many favors, and as nurses, we will be in key positions to show the world that we too, are human, and we value the lives and well-being of other humans.

I wish you the very best in your education and the future.

I am not male but in terms of nursing, men tend to progress up the greasy pole quicker lol. In all fairness men usually tend to progress up the career ladder quicker.

whats a greasy pole? i work with several male nurses and i am the charge nurse over them. they don't progress any faster than women in the nursing field..... i love the male nurses i work with , they are awesome in this female dominate job !! i work with mulim and jewish and catholic ectra nurses and doctors and we get along great. we are there for the patient, and our goal is to give good care. good luck in your nursing school and keep us posted !!
