Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

there's a forum for graduate students. how about a forum for lpn to rn students. there seems to be quite a few people that are doing this, it might be nice to have a forum for it.

admin note: i've added the new forum in the nursing student sub section

https://allnurses.com/forums/f233/

and there are plenty of us who have gone through it that can help with support and advice maybe. especially after completion,, is different than just becoming a new rn,, different hurdles to get over, and different set of problems that go along with it.

hear, hear! don't ya wish we had this site when we were in school???

"wat are their benifits anyways (of rn) as opposed to an lpn?

and rn's can hang blood, whereas lpn's can't....hanging tpn can be another challenge (lpn's can monitor).

Hey butte- Go for RN if you can swing it- with lpn, you will most likely want to move to RN later, and it only gets harder, between kids, work hours, car payments, etc. you know, life and stuff. I can't count how many nurses have said to me that they wanted to do RN fairly quick after becoming an lpn, and then with all of the above, 25 or more years can go by and you never quite got there. It is not impossible at all, just alot harder- very tough to work full time or near it as an lpn while going to school for RN full time.

personally, i was having too much fun as an lpn; that, and the experience. took me 16 years between the 2 courses. but....that was my decision. wouldn't have changed it for the world.

Hi everyone, I just found out that I passed NCLEX-PN and will be starting an RN program this fall (just have to get my sciences out of the way..again) anyway I've been looking for jobs in newspapers and online and I've found that the majority of facilities hiring LVN's want someone with 1 year experience. So I just want to know where would be a good place to start so I can get that experience. I would prefer to work on a med/surg floor because I'll learn more, but I'm open to anything. Thank you.

I just received my official acceptance letter for LPN-RN Mobility Program at Wallace Community College Alabama. I am excited and nervous. I woul use this forum as much as possible for info and questions that I may have throughtout the program.

Welcome to the Forum!

I see this thread kinda petered out for a while then was brought back. I just graduated from my PN program this week and am awaiting my ATT so I can schedule my NCLEX. I want to bridge and haven't really quite figured which path I wish to take. It takes so long to get in locally and I'm not sure I have the self discipline to do an online or correspondence type program.

Hi, I'm a Practical Nursing student here in Philippines. Actually it's a new crash course here. I want to take NCLEX exam to be an LPN. I dont know how to apply and what are the requirements. Is there a website for that? I haven't talked to anyone who has taken the NCLEX-PN exam. Is it that hard?

Welcome to the site! You probably want to look in the International Forum for this information. Good luck.
