I am in the market & curious what you ladies & gents think. If you answer please let me know if you are happy with them or not :) THANK YOU!!!!:loveya:

I was wondering about as well. When I was in nursing school, our instructors told us it was something not to be worried about because we would be covered where ever we worked. Interested to hear people's answers :)

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

There are multiple threads on this site on this very subject. Your employer will only cover you while employed, IF you exactly follow policy and procedure. Your employer's carrier has the employer's best interest in mind not yours. If you are a new grad, most companies offer a discount of up to 50% on your policy in the first year you are a licensed nurse. Two companies mentioned on this forum are NSO and ProLiability. I know that NSO covers you should you ever be reported to the board of nursing to defend your license (not something that would necessarily be covered under your employer's policy) plus coverage if you are charged with a HIPAA violation. ProLiability and other companies cover you for license defense.

For less than $100/year I am covered. Many of the healthcare liability companies also offer free continuing education credits (which are required by most states to renew your license) so it is a win win.

Specializes in geriatrics, IV, Nurse management.

I'm covered under my BON and employer but I also registered with a couple nursing associations that cover me 100% too:)

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

NSO and Proliability are the two most common providers of nursing .

Thank you! Now I just have two companies to decided from. :yelclap:
