Can I apply for jobs now that I have passed or do I have to wait until my license come in the mail?

I'd start looking, but no one will hire you w/o license in hand. Congrats on passing!

Here in Pennsylvania the grads get jobs right out of school & work as GPN's
then when they pass NCLEX they are LPN's. Not sure about your state. However, if they don't pass NCLEX they are left go from their job. So it's iffy.

The prospective employer always verifies your license with the board anyway (by phone, fax, or letter). I think it is just easier to have it in hand when you apply. They are still going to take the time to verify it.

most states the licenses can be verified online. Employers will verify online as well.

Here in Jersey I ran into trouble with my license not being posted on the board's website even though I passed. It only took an extra week to get it though.

I would be patient and wait for the license to be mailed to you, as most facilities in California require a copy of your LVN license before they'll allow you to work. I'm sure you want to dive in there and start working, though.
