OK to just mail resumes to nsg homes?

Okay, so it is costing me a fortune to drive all around the Bay Area to fill out applications for nursing homes. Would it be okay to just mail a resume with a cover letter or should I just continue to fill out applications in person. I would get my name out more if I mailed my resume but I want to do what will work. Any advice would be appreciated.

Since you live in an area that has very few LVN jobs, I would bite the bullet by continuing to complete the employment applications in person. You don't want to remain anonymous during a very important job search, and mailing resumes is one surefire way to remain cloaked in anonymity. Good luck to you!

Exactly! You need them to see you, even if it stinks to have to drive there. Good luck!

Definitely go in person. You never know when you may stop and one facility and they are able to talk to you right then. Good luck! Keep your spirits up, you will find the job you are meant to have!!

I was interviewed and hired on the spot each time I went in person to a facility or agency looking for a job. Don't pass up the possibilities out there for the person who makes that extra effort.

You might try using the phone to introduce yourself. If you can get an idea over the phone on what is a good day/time to give your resume to someone with hiring authority then a) you can combine trips and stop off at several potential employers at once, and b) they'll already recognize your name when you show up.
