New LPN grad looking for LPNs insight

Hi All, I am 42 and a new grad. I would love to make some new friends and also gain some insight from those who have gone before me or even those who are still in the process. I am preparing to take my boards. I'm just waiting for my school to send out my paperwork so I can mail in my registration. Hope to catch up with ya

Hello Cisl4him. I'm 31 and I just found out that I passed my test this past week and I'm looking forward to starting my new career as a LVN.

A little about my test, it stopped at 85 questions and took me 2 hours and 30 minutes. It seemed like 1/3 of it were on meds which was my weakest area. Afterwards, I thought I had failed and just wanted to curl up into a fetal position in a corner and just die. So here I am, waiting for my license to process (which they said will take 3-4 weeks) and looking for some insight from new grads as well. Specifically from anyone that started out as a LVN and are now or in the process of obtaining their BSN, masters or maybe branched off to a PA position, etc...

Hi 1200, That is so awesome that you passed the Nclex. I'm waiting for my school to send me the seal that I graduated. At this point it looks like I won't be able to look for a job until late August. What did you use to study for the exam? I have the Nclex Pn comprehensive review. It seems pretty good. Talk soon

I mainly used Saunders CD that came with the book COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW for the NCLEX-PN EXAMINIATION

There are thousands of questions that provide rationale's and practice tests. About 1/4 of the material I studied for (like lab values) were not even on the test. Good luck!

I am seriously thinking of getting right into the online nursing after I pass my boards. I spoke with a a representative from collegnetwork.com tonight and it seems really obtainable. Well, I would have to maintain and 80 and that kinda concerns me. Do you know anyone who has done the online nursing program?

I recently passed my boards (in May) and am just starting my first nursing job!

Good luck on the NCLEX, and try not to sweat it too much. You'll do fine.

congrats to all of you. Im Marta from NJ and i just wanted to say, i graduated on may 21st, passed my NCLEX on june 13 and still havent found a job, its been 2 weeks and im getting worried. i was wondering if i was the only one? it seems as if everywhere i apply they want experience :(

How did you prepare for nclex? I'm doing the Saunder's PN review. I am going to mail in my registration and application tomorrow. When they call me to make an appointment, can I schedule it for 3 weeks down the road? Will I have a choice. I don't want to take it until the end of July or so but I want to mail in my paperwork soon cause I'm not sure how long it will take to process

CONGRATS on passing your boards and/or finishing nursing school. It's tough, been there done that. I remember very well the day I found out that I had passed. I screamed, cried, yelled, laughed...it was a very exciting day. Of course, that's been eons ago, but it felt so good knowing that I had graduated and passed my nursing boards. Good luck in your career, just don't get over anxious and you will be fine. Again, CONGRATS and best of luck!!!!!!:yeah:
