Lpn Stressful???

Is being an LPN as stressful as an R.N? I keep hearing that nursing is so stressful. I just wonder if it's the same case as the lpn role. My friend works in LTC and she doesn't seem to think it's that stressful. Although, she does work nights.....

I think more so. The work can be mind-numbing while you're expected and need to be paying attention to a lot of detail, if you're banging out meds.

If anyone finds a job in heath care that isn't stressful, kindly let me know.
Other than the mind numbingly boring ones like sitting with a comatose patient one on one.

I work active treatment and my stress level is the same as the RN working along side me.

I think that it is stressful because bottom line, you are making decisions that can alter a person's quality of life. Personally, though, I think that being an RN is even more stressful, but that is me. Too much darned paperwork and being responsible for more people than just myself would just blow my mind.

Nursing is stressful, whether RN or LPN. Different sorts of stress at each type of facility but certainly still stress. I worked at a nursing home for seven years and I have no worked in a clinic for eight years. Definitely didn't get away from the stress.

Even being a CNA is stressful Worked at one nursing home for 3 years and had serious heartburn everyday. Day I quit it went away.

ive been working for almost a month now at a nursing home and the paper work is eh the stress is blah... i mean i love the patients with all my heart and wish them well especially when they leave and come out on better terms than when they came in...

but sometimes i feel so sad and blah that that job is just not my place idk if im more business minded or more of the pharmaceutical type or whatever but i like nursing but am not in love with what im doing rite now... i think its normal cause i hear stories allt he time...
u guys think i should continue and do some time THEN find a new opportunity in the field of nursing or what? (like i said to me the direct patient care thing is like 50-50 with me im happy but im not in LOVE with the job i think id have more pleasure and happiness on the business end or something along the lines where im still in the medical field)

long answer to the question... yes as an LVN it does get stressful and in my case i have a lot to think about but it definitely is stressful and tiring and the days off never seem like enough BLAH haha

Can only speak for LPN since I'm not an RN. Depends on the facility that you are working in how stressful things are. I've had 2 nursing home jobs..when I worked night shift it was less stressful to me. I loooved it. Now I work first shift and it's so busy and family are coming in/out and phones ringing off the hook..that makes it stressful.

I would tend to think that a CNA is stressful, an LPN is stressful, an RN is stressful, hell, even working at wal mart could be stressful. What I am getting at is that it is not the title that can be stressful, it is how one handles stress. I have never worked anywhere except healthcare, but I see stress in all kinds of people in everyday positions. I believe it is all in how one handles it. Just my opinion!!!
