It all depends on your state of residence. Most states participate in the quick results, while others still operate things by primitive snail mail. Think positively!

I am just scared cause if it shut off at 87 I think I got more wrong then right--- or not-- I'm not sure---
The computer's whole goal is to get you to a level of difficulty where you are getting about 50% right and 50% wrong. As the OP stated before, when you miss a question they give you an easier one, when you get it right you get a harder one. It continues this way until you're getting 50% right and 50% wrong within a certain level of difficulty. This is the point where the computer will shut off because it has been able to statistically determine what level of difficulty you are at. So essentially everyone exits with about a 50% performance and everyone feels like the questions were hard (because they were for them)... the only question at that point is what level of difficulty they were truly at when they exited. And THAT determines whether or not they passed.

Bottom line: because of the way the test is designed to determine competence most people leave feeling as though they didn't do that great. Recognize that this feeling is normal and means LITTLE and remind yourself that national pass rates overall are fairly high.

When I took a national pharmacy exam several years ago the pass rate was about 80%. I was sitting in the room sooooooooo nervous and I finally looked around... there were about 100 people in the room and I said to myself, "80 people in this room are going to pass this. 20 will not. And as hard as I've worked, there is no way in hell I'm going to be one of those 20." I calmed right down and focused on my test.

Hi, I am new to the forum, and I also took my NCLEX-PN today. It shut off at 85, but I am not at all confident that I passed. I am just praying for a miracle. My school has a 100% pass rate also, but it was definitely the hardest test that I have ever taken.

I also took the Nclex-pn today, and I walk away feeling kind of numb. It shut off at 85. It was hard and had questions about things we didn't even cover in school. I answer them to best of my ability. I'll find out my results this coming thursday. The waiting is driving my crazy!!!

Well.......It's been awhile since I took the test but I will say it seems like yesterday just listening to everyone......I remeber my computer shutting off at 80 questions and all I could do was start crying, i cried all the way home, i told my boyfriend, "i failed it, i know i did, the test was stupid, i didn't know anything.....I even told him, if I failed I wouldn't take it again",
I waited maybe a week or less before one of girlfriends called me and said, don't wait til the mail comes , call the state board, put in your SS# when asked, if they give you a license number you passed, if not then just wait it out..........well, of course I called the number, scared out of my mind, but when I heard a License number for my name, I couldn't believe it, I just knew I failed..........all this is meant to say, keep your head up, and don't think the worst, sometimes this is just our coping mechanism for a stressful stiuation:hatparty:we shall celebrate and rejoice when the results come back

I was told that you want a small envelope. A big one means that you didn't pass, and it let's you know the areas in which you did poorly.
