I am just arriving home from the test center that administered my NCLEX-PN examination. My exam shut off after 85 questions and I wasn't sure about the whole thing.
Based on pure recollection, I would guess that about one-third of my questions were priority. For example, "After receiving change-of-shift report, which patient would you check on first?", or "Four patients are asking for assistance; which one would you assist first?"
I received only 3 or 4 med questions and they were all about antihypertensives such as Procardia or Captopril. There were about 3 peds questions and a handful of OB questions. I received 4 questions on Addison's Disease and another 4 on insulin-dependent diabetes. There were a couple of questions on chest tubes, too.
Also, I recalled seeing a few nutrition questions. I absolutely got no new-format questions or math on this exam. I could tell when I was answering correctly because the questions became progressively harder. Likewise, I could tell when I answered something incorrectly because the next questions became progressively easier.
However, I have no clue on whether I passed. When the computer stops at 85, it means one of two things. Either I performed extremely well or very poorly, because the computer was quickly able to make a pass/fail decision. Now I have to wait several dreaded weeks for the results since I am dealing with the snail-mail California B.O.N.
I am in the waiting boat too!! MS does not let you call that want you to wait by the mail box. I am so scared to go to the mailbox. I do not know what envelope it is coming in. DO you want the big one or a little one? It is a nerve racking experience. Between the stress and my kids and I am going to be bald!!hopefulnurse05
I was told that you want a small envelope. A big one means that you didn't pass, and it let's you know the areas in which you did poorly.
Hey sxyrn2b08. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How did you get your results so fast. I have went to the Pearson web site a hundred times, and it says that they are not ready yet. Is there another way?
I just called my board of nursing. They have a automated line in which they verify licenses. I just put in my social and they told me that I was license on Jan 4 and and my expiration date of my license. I live in Va. I took my test yesterday and when I check the Pearson website, it said that it had transmitted my results about 2 hours later. I know that was pretty fast. That's how they operate in VA. I'm so happy.

I passed!!!!!!!!!!! I found out today through the quick reply.
I took the test in August and it shut off at 84 questions, I was sure I failed it, my questions were mostly priority also. I'm in Kentucky, I took the test on a Wednesday, and got my unofficial results on Friday saying "pass", my official results came in the mail on Saturday, wow, I can't believe Kentucky is more up to date than California on at least one thing. Good Luck! I'm sure you did fine, keep us posted.
