I'm trying to understand why they fired you. Weren't there nursing assistants around? Or is this patient a VIP (usually, those are the ones that have administration jumping like this). How long did you work there? If it was not for a long time, and (especially) if I had another job, I wouldn't mention it at all. I need to hear a bit more.

cna's had been in and out of that room all night trying to attend to her. what she really wanted was her pain shots that she was getting at the hospital. She was now at the rehab center and no longer had a order for that . according from the report from hospital stated she no longer needed it. the only order i was able to get was norco and that pt wasnt having it. she had us all running like chickens with heads cut off. i had been working there for more than 6 years!

Did you work anywhere else besides this place, even part time? What exactly did management say was the reason for termination? Did you have prior problems with them? If I had another position elsewhere, I wouldn't mention them, but it sounds like this may have been your first position. From what I understand, they are not supposed to blackball you, they are only supposed to say how long you worked there. If that is the case, I would cite to potential employers that it was not a good fit due to distance, or something to that effect. Best of luck and sorry it happened to you.

after my shift is what the complaint was about from the noc shift. that the cna was taunting her or took her phone away, apparently her son was on the line and he heard everything. came down in the middle of the night all fired up. her family is in nursing made a complaint to the state. they put all this on me because if her call light had been answered earlier...

so your now responsible for what cna's do on the next shift. you said yourself that you had all been in and out of the room all night. if the residents family is mad. they should be mad at the doctor for not giving her pain meds. geesh

Was the noc shift aide fired? That's abuse, and I certainly hope she was canned as well. I'm sure they fired you to "look good" for the family. Good luck with your next job.

Yes the cna was also fired and i also agree that they did it to 'look good' for that family, i dont put any responsibility on the docter because the pt really did not need iv pain med, but i feel the facility should have stood behind its nurses, and they didnt. i realize its a business and they are just doing whats better for them. but it still stinks

I am so sorry to hear that I wish you luck in finding another job, hang in there ok

What a raw deal! Always document up the yazoo for these difficult patients. Although it probably wouldn't have saved your job. I would tell the next potential job the truth. If they don't want to hire you because of this ridiculous incident, then you probably don't want to work for them. And tell them that's why you are being honest with them. 6 years!! May the state pay them an unannounced inspection--tomorrow!!! Best wishes and keep us posted. :smokin:

What shift do you work? It is a shame that you were terminated behind the actions of someone else. It sounds like you worked the previous shift, and also, even if you were there, you are not an octopus, who has tentacles or have more than two ears. I'm sorry this happened to you.
