College network and Indinia state univerity a bunch of info..for California people

Just talk to a rep for college network/ ISU stuff.

1. They check your transcript and take one or two not all. They hook you on that it will not be approved by ISU. They have 10 courses that must be taken unless you took it already. Each class is class $455.

2. You pay for your examination after each class at a cost of $75-$200 depending on what the course is. This is Phase 1

3. After you finish the class, you apply to ISU and pay application fee.

4. you will then have to test out of 4 LVN classes by ISU. The cost is $2550 to test out of it.Phase 2

5. After that you would have 460 clinical hours through sonoma state university and regular online classes. The tuition is $10,000. Phase 3

Rep told me, "are you comfortable paying me $400 down and make monthly payment of $125 for 40 months?"

So LVNs in California you decide what this is for yourself...To me there is nothing better than good old fashion school learning which I now prefer.

Accredition wise:::This could be conditional and have a relaspe problem just like excelsior years ago in california where they got their accreditation revoked in the state of CA.

Exelsior was booted because they didn't provide adequate clinical hours.

Aside from not enough clinical hours, they were letting anybody with money join the program...and the board found out and revoked it.....These people didn't even do the pre-req and paid money to just take the class and sit in for the nclex

THE ISU program is only good if you want to practice in Indiana. It seems to be a decent program. I went through all the information and even had a representative send me an e-mail explaining certain things to me. The issue is that it has not been approved by other states meaning that if you take the program and live in another state you might not be considered having a BSN even though you do. I have also looked to other LPN to BSN programs online and that is the common trend. The good news is that if you want to take a program and you live in that particular state then it's ok.

ISU is APPROVED in California, you don't have to live or work in Indiana or any other state. Call the CA BRN

Hi all,

I met with a guy from the college network and I came to the conculsion I am going to further my education with the Indiana State ( LVN-BSN). I did my research on this company and process and first didnt want to pay money and not be able to sit at the boards.I graduate next month and find it discouraging that they no longer use LVNS in a lot of acute settings, just clincals(which I probally wont use my skills learned in school), and LTC's.College network isnt for every one, but its seems perfect for me. Here are my reasons for going:

1. They just got approved from the Nursing State Board of California

2. There are no waiting list's, unlike going through a LVN to RN Program

3. Less money than going to a private school for LVN- RN

4. More opportunities when you graduate vs. RN degree alone

5. Study at my own time and pick my own preceptor unlike traditional nursing school

6. No commuting

7. You can pay this money back within a year(as a BSN) or your employer can pay for it so you may not owe anything.

I am going this route/ After they receive your official transcripts, they send a letter regarding needed classes. You call, talk to the advisor. I ended up with just 2 classes. Not 10, I would of freaked out for sure.

I was going to go to Mount st. Mary's (private college) but they want up to $900.00 per unit !

I have read all the information there is to read and spoke to everyone I could regarding this program, and it is a great program. Finally, our hands are untied in California

Sounds great... anymore information about how you pick the preceptor?? Do clinicals have to be done at Sonoma State (read that someone) or can they be done at your work?

No not yet. I was told by two co-workers that they will help to pick a preceptor, or you can put in a request for someone local. It says it might take awhile to get the preceptor approved. I'm sure they are starting to work out some of the bugs in the program. It's worth looking into.
