  1. I am going this route/ After they receive your official transcripts, they send a letter regarding needed classes. You call, talk to the advisor. I ended up with just 2 classes. Not 10, I would of freaked out for sure.
  2. I have never worked in a nursing home. I just can't deal. It takes a very special nurse to do this. Hats of to those who do. You truly are angels.
  3. I have been and LVN in California for 16 years. Working in an acute care setting. Did not know there was an LVN league of nursing. At my hospital the RN's broke from the SEIU and went CNA. Leaving LVN's (3) of us with SEIU. They don't even know what the scope of practice is for an LVN and that it varies significantly per certification. Dropped out of the union and places my dues in a donation for Children with cardiac anomolies. I certainly would take part.
  4. I worked as a CNA and ward clerk prior to becoming an LVN. My motto is ,"Don't forget where you have been."
  5. What is that "I am adult stuff!" You can fail at any age! We all have to go the route that is best for us personally. To place a person in the position of having to defend their decision, especially informed, which at this stage of the game they are, is wrong. How arogant can you be. Where is the support? Sounds like their plan is chasing down information that time could be beter used in study. The answer to the Sonoma State, they find you a preceptor and since the program is new a Full Federal Financial Aid can be obtained. But, you do have to apply for that aid. Good luck in what ever program you decide on. You certainly sound like you have what it takes to get there.
  6. I am not a new grad LVN. But I am am a LVN and I am 53 years old. I work on a cardiac unit. Have 3-4 patients. We all get tired at the end of our 12 hour shift. Age is not a factor. You must learn priortize and you must have a system that allows to to multi-task, give the care you need to give and don't make a mistake. I have a form that I have all pt info I need. SBAR is your friend, know your labs and medications to given and times, and a place for vitals and procedures to accomplish including tests for DX. Nothing to it. Ha!
  7. I work in Northern California, have worked in acute care for 16 years, pay started out at 18.00 an hour. I have taken cardiac cert. course, ACLS, tele cert. ultrasound tech. I make 26.25 an hour and have worked for Sutter 9 years. this includes full benefits plus retirement.
  8. tarkuh of Ventura, are you going to enroll in Indiana State and Sonoma Univ. for you clinicals?
  9. I have also just started College Network and just faxed transcripts to Indiana State for evaluation. I work with another LVN that has been going through this route. You must be disciplined, focused and driven. I am trying to schedule specific study times and setting timed goals for each section. So far so good. It is very hard with working, family, and other responsibilities that pop up. There are times when my 10 minute break is to go scrub a toilet, fix dinner,or laundry. What a life!
  10. I am going through College Network-Indiana State-Sonoma route. I have found it a great program for me. If it you are dedicated and focused on your goal it is a good program. Sonoma State finds you a preceptor and hospital in which to do your clinicals.
  11. I live and work in Northern California on a cardiac telemetry unit day shift. I make 27.25 an hour with great benefits.
  12. Thank you for the reply. I am aware of College Network is for modules only. I am enrolled at Indiana State/Sonoma State for their LVN to BSN accelerated program. The bridge programs here in Northern Ca. have waiting lists of up to 2 years. When I heard of this possibility I jumped on it. LJones
  13. I have been an LVN for 16 years and work on a critical care unit. I work with a great group of nurses but continue to feel like less than a professional by others in the community. I am going through College Network/Indiana State/Sonoma University online program. My co-workers keep me grounded and focused. There are some great LVNs out their who have taken their lic. to it full potential. Thank goodness I work on a unit with Nurses who judge you by your performance and how you work as a team. LLJones
  14. Indiana State University/Sonoma State in No. California have just joined forces for an accelerated LVN to BSN program. I am at the start of this process. It is all online until the preceptorship and you enroll at Sonoma through their Nursing Dept. they arrange for all your needed clinicals to sit for the boards. LLJones
  15. I just signed up with Collegee Network also. The program is through Indiana State/Sonoma State, LVN to BSN. I am very excited about this opportunity, and a little anxious. I have numerous friends that went through College Network and Excelsior College prior to its withdrawal. You have to be very motivated and self-driven. I can do this? LLJones
