Working abroad as a UK qualified RN

Hi

I do not know if this is the correct forum but I thought I would ask anyway. Unlike other countries the uk has Nursing branches -Adult, child, mental health and learning disabilities.

I know that Australia needs Nurses so a uk trained nurse can get a job there.

Anyway What I would like to know is where else can a adult branch trained nurse work. Which other countries?

I know places like America are almost impossible. So where?

I'd recheck the Australia thing. I have a waiting list of people looking to work on my ward. What about UAE?

Interesting :cautious: I'd rethink as well about Stralia and the perceived easy to access to work and work rights thingy. Perhaps South Africa. Know lots of nurses from there. They say work is plentiful there for nurses.

Can I clear up a few things. I know Australia is not easy but it is easier than other places.

2ndly I want to be a nurse to help people. Especially in Scotland. Where I was born.

3rdly I was just curious as to where I could work.

I am not sure what you mean? Are you a nurse or a student? What does this list have to do with becoming a nurse?

I am a uk qualified adult nurse, I have gained registration in USA but that is because I covered all area required with enough hours to meet the USA requirements for obs, child, mental health surgical and medical. So gaining registration in the USA is depending on when you took your degree and what was included.

The other factor in the USA is also visa retrogression and the lack of nursing jobs for local people and the decrease in the requirement for foreign nurses. There is also concurrency issues as well and many states now requiring a social security number to apply to the board.

Australia although as a uk nurse you can gain registration there is also a lack of jobs in the country.

Although the lack of jobs is the case. Depending on your speciality, will determine if you have a chance at gaining employment.

You may need to look at the hours your have done for obs, child and mental health. This will determine whether you have any problems in gaining registration.

I don't think nay where outside of the UK will accept the specialized nursing degrees from the UK.

Canada and the US won't.]

This list gets quoted a lot and is so off - we do not even have disability nurses these people are cared for by diploma in disability care people who are not nurses, there is no room or funding for nurses or place in csu homes.

Also the specialties mentioned here are for nurses with much experience and preferably post graduate degrees in those specialties are required.

This list shows the occupations that one may apply for an invitation to be offered a permanent visa to work by the immigration department.

However unless you have 3 years experience you will not get an invitation to apply.

Also immigration does not register nurses, or assess the, so they cannot offer any visa unless assessed by ANMC.

If under 30 you can get a holiday working visa, - need assessment by AHPRA,

Temporary visa up to 4 years - jobs for new graduates are not around or should not be around. Sponsorship for nurses are now cut right back unless you have theatre experience.

Advice specialise in all things theatre very short.
