A lot of police stations don't do ink fingerprinting anymore and I have even heard comments of having to go to Scotland Yard to get them done. I was lucky that my husband was trained to do them when in the specials so did mine and I had no problems

I think I paid about £20 for notary. They can charge what they want so best to shop around

Sorry I am no use, but for furture reference I dont think you have to pay to have things noterised in the USA. I have had many things noterised in the states at no cost. I cant believe you have had to pay up to 50 pound. Sorry to hear they are giving you a hard time.

You're lucky you don't live in London - £24 is a bargain!! if you live in the Capital you have to go to New Scotland yard & because the NM BON want 2 sets done it'll cost you £94!!

£20 for the notary is also a bargain - here in Lonodn they wanted to charge me £250!! luckily I have a friend who is a solicitor & they accepted that, so I got my stuff notarised for free!

In the US, many places do charge for notary services. That is how some people make a living or supplement their income.

For anything that needs to be notarized for the US, the best prices that you will get are at the US Embassy. They have a set fee, and is not that bad in US dollars compared to what some other places will charge you there. Suggest that you check them out.

I also think a lot depends on where you live but also the police are going more electronic and I know in Bradford they no longer do ink finger printing

I have come across nothing but problems trying to get fingerprints done also, I contacted my local police station and they basically said that they are not allowed to do them for anything other than visa purposes. I tried to explain it was for part of the visa process for nurses but they wouldn't have it and said as it was effectively for FBI checks they couldn't do it.

I am also trying (being the operative word) to apply through NM so still need to get my fingerprints done. I am going to contact the fingerprint bureaus in Edinburgh and Glasgow but if not I am going to have to contact Scotland yard and probably make a trip down to London to get it done, where they do definatly do it as it says on the website and gives a number to contact, but the cost for me to get to london, probably have to stay overnight, and to pay to get the fingerprints done is going to b too much for me this month so it may have to wait a while.

also meant to say that as I'm with an agency they are dealing with the notary, but i know if you need it done the embassises will do it, and certainly the US embassy in Edinburgh would be able.

I have been out of the UK for 11 yrs. I can't believe how much you guys are having to pay for all the things that are needed to come over to the states, vacinations, fingerprinting, noterizing, obtaining transcripts. I guess that some one feels they need to get the last drop of money out of you all before you leave.

i have had some good news, i can get my fingerprints done in Edinburgh at the police headquaters and it will cost me £30 for 2 sets. They didn't even question it like all the other police stations I have contacted.
