you dont file for the nclex exam. you apply for licensure in the state of illinois. and the nclex exam is a part of that licensure process. before cts make u eligible to sit for nclex, you have to submit required documents.

you may visit this threads, lots of info....

CGFNS will let you cancel if you do it before ten weeks from the exam. But you are going to need to do some research on this.

hi suzzane,

i've read that according to cgfns " they have instituted a no refund policy for its CP, CES, CVS. individual consideration will be given on a case to case basis if refund is necessary due to cgfns error". this is what i read from their site.

but can u pls give me an idea if i can ask them to cancel my cp exam and register for the CES instead? have u encounter like this? can i email the cgfns for the cancellation? pls help me....i know that i can save time and effort w/ this idea...pls help:idea:

Hi! I emailed CGFNS about your problem and this was their reply:

"Please be advised that if the applicant is

rostered for the exam, he is no longer able to request that his money

be transferred to another program. He would need to submit the payment

for the other service he is requesting."

Sorry for the bad news..:(

CGFNS changed their refund policy when they instituted the new fee schedule. You used to be able to change it if there was a certain time frame before the exam. But once payment is made now for any service, they no longer permit it; unless it was due to a mistake on their part.

Exam date is the same no matter where in the world that it is offered. Whether US or your country, all are given at the same time and same date; that is local to the area.

Sorry about that. Last time that I looked at the refund part you were able to apply for the fee to be submitted to another program of theirs, but not anymore.

You always need to check everything with the site from where you purchased something before cancelling or making changes. And you should have checked the CGFNS website. I can only tell you what they have done in the past, not necessarily what they are always doing today. Things are always changing there, and with each and every Board of Nursing.

Still think that you did the right thing. There is absolutely no reason to waste the time preparing for that exam when it is not needed. Preparation for the NCLEX exam is quite different, and different material covered. If you were going to wait for CGFNS to get the results to you: for the Juky exam, you would be looking at next fall before you would get the letter that IL would need. Letter arrives about two months after the exam. Results are posted on their website in mid-August. You should have your CES long before them and already have taken the NCLEX exam well before you would get your results.

This iwhy I always tell everyone to do their homework before submitting anything. You had sent your application before you even knew about out site or what was required to work in the US>

i have asked the cgfns about the transfer of the fee and told me to wait for several businness days to transfer the fee to ces..i'm crossing my finger that hopefully there will already be a result next week. if not, i'll follow ms suzzanne's advice.... :uhoh3:

I know this may be a dumb question, but does being a passer of the CGFNS exam give one some kind of "employment points" when applying for a job in countries other than the US? Do other countries (example Australia or European countries) recognize passage of the CGFNS qualifying exam? 'Cause a lot of rumors go, "Take the CGFNS first. If you'd want to go to Europe, it will be easier if you're a cgfns exam passer." Is that true??! I belive other-countries-around-the-world have their own requirements, right?

No, they don't. It's only good for the US and the CGFNS Certificate or proof of passing the NCLEX exam is needed for an employer to file an employment-based petition for you. It is just a requirement for filing of the petition for the US. Some States do not even need the the CGFNS certificate for them to allow you to take the NCLEX.

Definitely do not take the CGFNS exams when the State BON you are applying for licensure do not even need it.

Always check the requirements for foreign nurses to be made eligible to take the NCLEX. It will be either of 3 things. They do their own evaluation (CA, VT, NM, etc..), they need a 3rd party (CGFNS' CES) to evaluate it for them (NJ, AZ, NV. etc..) and states requiring CGFNS Certification (MI, CT, etc..)

Bottom line is: Do not do anything not needed in the 1st place.

hi,

if u want to work in europe and u have cgfns cert this doesn't give u an "employment points". my friend took only the ielts as required in one state of europe and only completed other requirements needed by that state but not cgfns. as what lawrence01 said it is only a requirement if u go to the USA. try to locate a state in europe where u wanted to work then look for their reqts. hope this helps
