CGFNS policies

by almoret

First of all, do somebody knows if CGFNS cert. has expiration?I passed it 10 years ago. Will they still honor it?Bec. during my time it is a lifetime certificate. And it includes an english section bec. that time there's no Toefl yet.But now they require you to pass first an english proficiency or take a separate english proficiency exam for the Cgfns cert.I'm kinda sad to know that i will just loose the cert. i really worked hard and payed a lot of money for.I also passed my toefl 5 years ago and now i cannot use it bec. it is already expired. My gosh i'm really disappointed with all those expiring cert.

I already searched the CGFNS website and tried to contact them as well through email but they answered me with an automated reply.Though i was still in their record bec. i checked my status. But my question still remain unanswered.Do i have to take toefl again when in fact they included english proficeiency in our exam way back which i guess is not included now in their exam bec. they let you take the toefl separately.

only cgfns can answer your querries.. please call them because email is unreliable and you need answers which can be best explained verbally....

Better call them directly instead of e-mail. They receive hundreds of e-mails on a daily basis from all over the world and they have indicated in their website that they need 15 days or so to respond.

Contact VT as well if they will accept your 10 yr old CGFNS Certificate in lieu of a transcript of records to be sent directly from your nursing school.

http://vtprofessionals.org/opr1/nurs...gnnurseapp.pdf

The way I see it, the only way you can still take advantage of the CGFNS certificate is if VT BON will accept that in lieu of their own transcript evaluation.

And as you know already, VT has no english-language prof. exam req't as well to sit for the NCLEX so it's either they will accept your CGFNS cert. in lieu of their TOR evaluation or not. If they do then no need for you to instruct your old school to send VT your transcripts. Just your application and fees.

That's it, in my opinion.

FYI, I have emailed CGFNS at least 10 times and never got a response.. ever. I agree, contact Vermont first to ask if they'll even accept the CGNFS (they do answer emails quickly in my experience)

Actually I checked the website FAQs at VT BON:

QUESTION: If I have taken and passed CGFNS, do I need to submit a transcript from my school of nursing regarding my education?
ANSWER: No. If you have taken and passed CGFNS in the last 5 years, you do not need to submit a transcript from your school of nursing.

They already issued you a CGFNS Cert. and their policy then was it is valid for lifetime. Don't see why you have to re-take the TOEFL again.

The better question is if they will be honoring that TOEFL score if you will be applying for the VisaScreen Certification but if you are a US citizen already by virtue of marrying an America you do not need the VisaScreen certification as well.
