Can I visit Los Angeles when I pass the Nov board?

I have a minor dilemma. I'd like to fly to Los Angeles this January and stay there as a tourist as long as possible, so the airfare would be worth it (say, 3 months). The thing is, I took the Nursing board this November. Results are supposed to be out around February. In case I pass, am I required to fly back to Metro Manila immediately?

Thanks!

My understanding when you come to USA, they are concerned that you are coming as a tourist. They may ask where you are going and what sites you are looking to visit. If you have 3 months of money to support yourself and a place to stay you should be all set. The Custom Officers have no access to the NCLEX board results, but may ask you if you are currently employed at home. If you are planning to come to the US and stay with a relative to look for a job, the Customs Officers may be able to detect that by your body language if you try to deceive them.

Enjoy visit there are wonderful places to visit in the USA.

Oops, I should rephrase my paragraph. My issue is not my stay in the US, but the urgency in which I have to go back to the Philippines in case I pass the NLE mid-February. Because if I go the US this week, I'm concerned that I may have to fly back to the Philippines as soon as the results are out. That would be a waste of airfare :o

u dont need to actually fly back home as soon the results are out.. unless you are planning to attend the oath taking ceremonies.. which would probably be in april.. u could always have someone get your results for you.. u just need to give them a specal power of attorney.. i was here in US when te results last year were released and i took my oath in the LA consulate.. if u have any more questions.. feel free to ask.. goodluck!

you do not have to fly back as son as the results are out.. are u planning to attend the oath aking? that would probabaly be in april.. as for me, i took the oath in the philippine consulate in LA last year.. i took the nov 2008 boards.. if u have any questions, feel free to ask.. goodluck!

Local Board results are projected tobe released on February 15th. However that may be delayed.

Why would you need to fly back immediately? To claim your license? You can do that any time really and you may want to check with PRC but I think someone can take care of that in your absence if you provide a letter of authorization.

You may stay in the US and fly back home in 3 months so you can maximize your vacation. You deserve a break from your sleepless nights when you were reviewing.

Dont worry about license registration once you pass...there is a schedule for late registrants. With regards to oath taking, that can be done at PRC.

Best of luck!

you need to get a work visa if you're to stay. you can't work on a tourist visa so whatever the length of time says it expires when it expires.

did you need any other paperwork other than your board results?

I just got the results of my exam last Tuesday & I passed! But my flight back to LA is on Sunday already! Am I able to register for my license in LA?

What's the actual purpose or intent to visit the LA (Ca) area?

If you wish to take the NCLEX-RN inCA, you'll need to submit the non-refundable application and just so you know, in the case, you have not read the plight and frustrations of several thousands applicants from the Phils, very few have been able to get approved for the ATT in CA (concurrency issues and other possible missing courses or lack of clinical hours) since Nov. 2011 (strict enforcement time of the concurrency rules.)

Going into the another US state and trying to endorse back into CA will not work either as you'll be asked for the same documents that will have denied the application in the first place without having to meet other requirements that may be lacking.

You should know it will take several months to get a initial request for further school documentation and almost up to a year to get a written notice of your application status and don't be surprised if you're asked to re-take certain courses again within 3 years of your application date or the application goes into the "abandoned" pile.

This is not going to happen overnight by any means to become registered.

If your intent is to simply vacation for a few months then that's all good. But you can't take or turn the tourist visa into a working visa or for other sort of legal presence to look for a job.

But the main issue will be to see if your transcripts meets the minimum requirements as set forth by the CA BRN. If you can jump that hugh hurdle, then tackling the NCLEX-RN is the next.

With the summer of 2015 upon us now, there are others also so unaware of the concurrency rules and re-taking of courses that so many are applying blindly without any concerns only to find in a few months of the receiving the rejection letter from the CA BRN and most likely will lose their non-refundable application fees due to the time limitation mentioned.

Btw, it's not necessary at all to come to the States just to apply for the NCLEX, there are many service places in the Phils and you can do this on your own from there via express mail as well.

oh I'm from California so my reason to coming to LA is to just come home haha, I don't intend on working there because I'm aware of all the struggles and stuff, I'm just wondering about the oath taking & the registration process if I were to do it in LA, I'm also aware of the CGFNS process, I'm just confused about the license registration

I think that you can do the oath with the consulate in CA (LA county). That's the least of your worries tho', as it seems you might be either a US or dual citizen in which case, you can probably write a letter of explanation even if you didn't pass the NLE or why you didn't take it (due to citizenship).

It also sounds like you're planning to put your RN application with the CA BRN. If that's the case you don't need to go thru the CGFNS process as the CA BRN does their own course evaluations.

If you are referring to the registration process with the CA BRN, just start submitting your application and wait for the CA BRN letter coming back as to what else you need to submit.

If you're 100% positive that ALL your courses were done concurrently then you should have no problems with meeting the CA BRN requirements, at the same time, know for sure that you have all the minimum hours for each courses (you'll need to go thru the CA BRN website to get the numbers).

Are you a recent graduate (2015) or 2014? I'm not sure you've read the other numerous postings and topics here on how the vast majority of PH grads and nurses have been denied the ATT in CA since Nov. 2011, due to the concurrency issues and other factors already mentioned above.

Find out from your school's transcripts department if they have had any recent issues with your other previous and current batchmates with getting recent approvals for the ATT.
